Regarding the rear tire width question, I was in my shop this morning and had a chance to measure my axle width. Equipped with the 420/70-24 Industrial tires, my L3540 was delivered with the tread set at 52.2" which measures to about a 70" overall width. The Kubota service manual shows the rear wheels can be remounted to achieve 53.5" or 57.7" tread widths.

That is good information to have as a possible move from my L3400 to a GL3520 will cost me more than just the price difference in the tractor.

My current 5ft bush hog is sized almost exacty the width of my rear tires now and the 68" snowblower would just barely be shorter than the tracks of a GL. I think that the blower is probably ok but considering that the rotary cutter alread dosen't feel wide enough around fence lines... chance are I'll want to move up to a bigger one.

That's strange. I was at the dealer Friday and actually put a tape on the machine, and it didn't raise any concerns then, I would've sworn it was 66-ish, but of course I didn't write it down..... maybe I'm losing my mind.....

Sorry for the delay. I measured them first thing this AM...
then I spent 5 hrs of seat time quarrying limestone (read 12 hrs wall clock).

The R4's on my GL3240 measure just at 70" overall width.

FWIW AG tires come on different rims that allow a wider range of subtle width settings. IIRC the L3240 at the dealer (w/ AG tires) did measure roughly 66". This is probably why the L3240 standard bucket is only 66" etc.

I stopped by my dealer this morning, measured half a dozen Grand L's, the rear R-4 tread width varied between 69 1/2" - 70". Guess I'll be remodeling that barn door. First tractor job will be digging a hole to bury some stone and morter.

For what it's worth, here's the possible tread dimensions for the L3540 rear tires:
12.4-24 R1 tire- 47.2", 51.2" 54.5" 58.3"
420/70-24 R4 tire- 52.2", 53.5", 57.7"
On the R4 tire add 18" to the tread dimensions to figure the overall width.
I don't know the width of the R1 tire. Perhaps the R1 would solve your width problem.

70.2" must be the magical number. That barn door is just going to have to give..... nothing a rotary hammer and a pair of goggles can't handle.

First Grand L I test drove had R1's, it had just rained and the grass was soft.....
