Fewer than 20 hours on new tractor. Twice in the last two weeks, temperature outdoors below 20 F., after about fifteen minutes of operation, engine bogged down and I had to shut down the tractor. Second time this happened, temperature outside 14 F., red engine warning light came on. I immediately shut down and saw the code P3001 on the screen. Called dealer, service mgr. said that code means engine needs a regen. No regen lights came on, was unable to do a "parked regen." RPM up to 1700, engine temp. up half travel, so nice and warm. Svc mgr said under those conditions, I can"force" regen by pushing regen button. No deal. No lights come on, no regen happens. Yes, I've been operating tractor under automatic regen. Haven't seen any regen of any type yet. I realize it is a 17-hour engine, new, so I cannot imagine exhaust system would need a regen yet.
Also, several times, on cold days, billowing clouds of white exhaust, so dense once I could not see past the bucket. I realize white means fuel.
Thing is, I've researched this and written Kubota. Kubota is useless for answers, the dealership says they don't know, bring tractor in. They are 25 miles away, and I had to take it in after only five hours from new for a stuck hydraulic valve. Cost to have it taken in is $436 round-trip for the hauler. Obviously I'd like to avoid that again. [Kubota's warranty requires owner to provide own transportation, regardless of problem.]
I ran the tractor just fine this a.m. Kept the RPM up to at least 1500, and no trouble. Perhaps I need to always keep it up. However, the P3001 code never goes away. It flashes alternately with the total hours on the screen. Is there any way for me to get rid of that code myself? of does it require a technician, which means $436 to get rid of the code. Someone on YouTube said codes are deleted if you disconnect the battery, tried that and no joy.
I have had an L2350 and an L3000 in the past, with the old exhaust set-up, so I am new to this regen/anti-pollution system. Does anyone know the answer to the code issue?
