Kubota 8200 - buying my first tractor

I am buying my first tractor and I want to know if I am getting a decent buy or should steer clear of this purchase. I am thinking of purchasing a Kubota 8200 that looks to be in decent shape has 526 hours on it. It has a loader, scraper and rototiller and they are asking $8000. Does this seem reasonable? If it is not reasonable how much would be reasonable. I haven't seen it in person yet but will be on my way tomorrow. Anything I should look at specifically? I am taking a mechanic with me so can give the skinny on what problems he might see.

The b8200 was made during the late 80's. $8000 for one in good shape would be a fair price. You may want to check if tractor has power steering and HST. These options will make it a great deal.

Pete: you don't say where you are located, and that just might make a difference. I bought a B8200 (gear drive, no PS, with a Bush Hog FEL and a 5' John Deere rear blade, with a 9" PHD for just over $8000 about three years ago. It was very clean, with about 475 hours (which looked about right). I have added power steering and some gauges (see my old posts, if you want), but other than scheduled maintenaince, I haven't done a thing except use it. I think it's a solid, well engineered and built machine, and it always works fine for it's intended purposes. I wouldn't sell it for less than $9 in its present configuration. Of course, that's about what I have in it. I got a block heater, since I use it for snow plowing about 1500' of gravel lane, and it does get cold here in Maryland. We had 30" of snow just before I took delivery, and learned to use it to clear the road! When I am moving gravel, I wish I had a bigger machine, but otherwise, it's perfect for my needs.
