Mowing Kubota B1750 Removing Mid Mower

I apologize if this is a stupid question. This is the first tractor that I've ever owned. I did not get an owners manual when I bought this although I do have one ordered. My question, Is it a hard job to remove the mower from my Kubota B1750. It looks like two pins in the rear and to pull the front pin. I hope I stated this right. This is my second post and the answers to my first one were very helpful. Thanks In Advance, pd239

i'm on my first tractor as of this summer as well so i'm an unexperienced new guy too. on my B7100 it's just as you have said, pull the two pins and the one up front and off it comes. on the B7100 there are plates covering the belt and such and you can just drive up and over the mower to install/remove. much nicer than trying to get the tractor off the ground. but i don't know if the "drive over it" set up is true to all kubota's.

Did you get an operating manual with your 7100? Your personal info doesn't indicate that you have a loader. Loaders are handy to get the tractor in the air to remove mowers. I don't think all MMM's are drive over.

How timely... and definately not a stupid question! I bought a second hand B1750 2 weeks ago (also no manual) and just last weekend tried taking the mower off!

I failed

I pulled the two pins at the back and released the front "bar" BUT with turf tyres on the tractor I didn't have enough clearance to pull the mower out. I would have needed to park the back wheels up on blocks and/or raise the anti-scalp wheels to their heighest position (lowering the mower deck to the lowest position). As mine is - the arms that hold the anti-scalp wheels can't get past the undercarriage. I also think I'd have to pull the two pins that hold the front "bar" onto the leading edge of the mower deck and take that off separately.

Lastly... at the time I didnt know how to take the MMM PTO shaft off the drive shaft. My dealer now has shown me how to pull back the collar and release the PTO shaft but I havnt been bothered to take the MMM off since. I just clipped the MMM into the raised position so that I can use other implements on the back 3PL.

Mine is the HST version with power steering and Bi-Speed turn and I'm just lovin' it.

Hear is how I removed the belly mower from my old B1550 (that I traded for a B3030). The B1550 is nearly identical to the B1750. I did this on a flat concrete floor. Obviously you have to pull the rear pins, then secure them up and out of the way. The front pin is very easy to release but it leaves the front arms of the mower in the way. After I removed the drive shaft I would place a floor jack underneath the front end of the tractor and raise it enough where the belly mower could move without the mower mounting brackets getting hung up on the bottom of the tractor. I know it sounds kind of confusing but you have to giggle the mower around a little bit to clear anything hanging from the tractor. I would also make sure the front tires were high enough to allow the front arms of the mower to slip underneath the tire and allow the mower to roll out. I always removed the mower to the right side of the tractor due to the guard on the mower. Putting the mower back onto the tractor is basically a reversal of the above procedure. To make the job much easier you could remove the front arms from the mower then it would slide out to the right side and not hit the tire. Overall it's not the best set up but it worked for me for several years (20). Hopefully this made sense to you. Feel free to ask additional questions if needed.

Not all Kubota MMM's are drive over. In fact I think most of them are not. When I removed mine on a BX2200 and reinstalled it I didn't get the drive shaft totally seated in the spline. It didn't click into place. It later came loose and punctured a filter so new filter and fluids.

I have the Kubota B1750. It does have the covers on the mower deck covering the pulleys and belts and it is designed to driver over top of it to put the mower deck on and take it off. I've done this for about 15 years.

When you take it off, disconnect the two rear pins, then the front pin, then the pto shaft (first by pushing outside further on - this releases it). Sometimes I would put a screwdriver in there, once I've released it, to pry it off of the pto shaft a little bit and then finish it by hand.

The easiest place to driver over and off is with it in the grass, otherwise it wants to roll away from you. Then I would take two 1" x 6" boards about 18" long and put from the ground just behind the front tires and the other end on top of the mower deck. Now get on, back over top slowly and just let it drop down of the other side of the mower.

Putting the deck on, again in reverse. Easiest to have deck in grass so it does not roll. Put the same two boards on rear of deck width of the front wheels. Drive over top and drop down on over the front. Attach two pins, then front pin, then PTO shaft.

When you remove the belly mower on a b1750 you MUST ALSO REMOVE THE REMAINING PTO SHAFT THAT IS IN THE HOUSING OF THE PTO ON THE TRACTOR ! DO NOT take off the mower and leave the universal joint and the 6 inch spline in the tractor ! It WILL spin around without being connoted to the mower and it WILL cause about $2000.00 damage to the PTO and transmission as it beats the crap out of everything underneath going around and around and not connected to anything. IT WILL tear the case out from under the tractor, all of the oil will run out and you will feel as stupid as I did. They guy I bought mine from showed me how to take off the mower but said nothing about the splined universal joint still in the PTO and that it had a collar on it for removal. YOU MUST PUCH BACK ON THE COLLAR and REMOVE the splined PTO SHAFT EVERYTIME you take off the mower and reinstall it when you put the mower back on.
