Hello,

First let me say that this is a great forum for tractor owners or hopefully soon to be tractor owners. I have learned a great deal in the last few days. I am a tractor rookie but cannot wait to get to work.

I have been searching for a small tractor - looking at new and used. I have found a B20 with 900 hours on it with a FEL. The owner is asking 12,500 for it. It is in really nice condition. So my questions are these:

1) Does anyone have the specs for this tractor at hand or could they point me to a link for those?

2) Does this tractor have power steering as a standard?

3) Does this seem like a pretty good price. He said that his price was OBO?

4) Would I be better off spending a little extra money for a new B7500?

5) Which newer Kubota is most similar to the B20? Is it the 2410?

I really appreciate any and all information you guys can provide. Thanks again.

Seems a bit much for 900 hours on a tractor with FEL. A brand new one with a FEL I'm guessing in not over $15,000.

(750 stands for 7.5' digging depth... 650 stands for 6.5'. Later models all came with the 750.)

2) Yes.

3) I'm thinking good/great deal @ $10k ... nice @ $11k. I wouldn't pay $12.5k since it has 900 hours. @ 500 or less, maybe, if it were mint.

4) Not really. To match the B20's performance, you're going to need to go for a B2710, or more realistically, the replacement B21 TL, which will run you about $19k new without backhoe.

5) B21. They're very similar. B21 got the new style flat deck, new dash, standard FOPS (falling object protective structure, aka reinforced canopy), and a few other minor changes. I'm not positive but I think the B20 may have dry shoe brakes, while the B21 has wet disc. That was one of the feature updates when the new B-series machines came out for '96.

Basically, the B20 is in Kubota's compact TLB class... they're extremely hard working machines, durable, great performers... not as versatile without a quick-attach FEL, and the heavy weight in addition to that fact makes them less suitable for lawn mowing than conventional tractors. You didn't mention what you plan to do with it. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks for the response. Muhommed - you have a great site here.

You mentioned that the FEL doesn't have the quick attach ability? How easy would it then be to remove it and reattach it?

My plans include a whole bunch of loader work, moving dirt gravel and rocks all over my little 5 acres. I also will be doing a good deal of post hole digging, rock raking, brush hogging, driveway blading, and just having a good time playing around.

Eventually (someday) I will have alot more grass to mow than I have now but it may be a while. I can live without the Mid PTO but it would be nice. Basically the only thing that is for is a MMM correct?

Muhammad,

You say that I wouldn't really be better off with a new B7500 HST and FEL for just under $13,000? Could you expand on that?

Thanks

It could also be used for a front mount snowblower or a power broom.

That's good to know, although I live near Seattle and it rarely snows here and although I could see a use for the power broom it would fall way down the list. Thanks.

It totally depends on your needs... I was speaking from a performance standpoint. A new B7500 will not match the B20 in terms of productivity for FEL work. It will however, be a very nice small tractor with a bunch of modern comfort features, a full warranty, and conventional tractor features like a quick-attach FEL and MMM option.

It really isn't done very often, only for repairs. In fact, I have never seen a B20 or B21 with the FEL removed. It's all bolted on, secured to the frame, etc.

Muhammad,

Sorry for that last question - I reread the specs you attached and saw that the FEL was fixed.
