Hello, first post here -- hopefully, of many. :)

I'm checking to see if I'm getting a steal and what I should specifically look for in terms of checking the whole deal out. I have the opportunity to buy a B2400HST with 1450 hours. It has power steering, FEL and a really heavy duty Atlas gannon box for $6,000.00.

I've driven it and the hydraulics are all tight. It looks like someone put new hydraulics on the FEL, either to make it a joystick or to replace the quick connectors. Everything works mechanically, it starts right up and doesn't smoke. PTO is in great shape and the hydro drive seemed flawless to me. The seat and instruments look like it was probably stored in a garage. Brakes are tight and powerful, as far as I could tell. There are a couple of dents that are cosmetic and not affecting functionality.

What should I specifically look at in terms of checking out the unit? Are there any gotchas I should be aware of? I've read many of the posts on this forum and didn't observe the starter issue I've seen many places or any other suspicious things except the lights don't work.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts, recommendations, warnings, etc.

Perhaps I'm just not patient enough, but does anyone have anything say about this? Is it a good/bad/average deal and to what should I pay the most attention when finalizing the transaction?

It sounds like a good price to me. Over 1400 hours could be a lot or not much at all depending on how it was used/taken care of. It sounds like it might have been taken care of pretty well-in which case I would say a vary good deal. As a comparison I sold a L1801 dt with loader for 6k this spring. Similar size-gear drive grey market with fel. (If it had been a hydro I would not have sold it)

Thanks, tractorworks. I think this thing was used by some Vietnamese rice farmers in the Southern California region for most of those hours. According to the current owner, they used a PTO-driven rototiller more than anything else and never had a FEL on it until the current owner put one on. Anything in particular I should ask? Or look for? I'm new at purchasing tractors and have studied the suject thoroughly, however, as with anything else, there always seem to be those "gotchas" that you don't figure out until after the fact. I'm trying to avoid those. Thanks for the reply.
