Kubota B2400 rear axle housing

I need to stop a leak in my Kubota B2400 axle housing. I have removed the right rear wheel, removed the 10 bolts holding the axle housing to the differential.

How does one go about dislodging the axle housing from the differential? The 'seal' between the two is created with a compound Kubota makes that creates a seal; there is no gasket, per se. Since I have the wheel off and the bolts removed, should I just tap the axle housing with a sledge hammer lightly to 'break' the seal from the previous compound? Or, am I missing something more elemental?

Use a rubber mallet or a rubber dead blow hammer. If the housing is aluminium, it won't take much abuse from a steel hammer. When reassembling, use permatex Ultra Gray silicone sealant.

Right you are, B2400. Worked like a charm. For the new seal, I bought the gunk that Kubota sells. They told me to apply it to the axle casing rim and to the differential rim, wait about 20 minutes or so and them reassemble.

I don't know how many hours you have on it but you may want to check that the the breather hole below the seat is not plugged. That's what happened to me. I didn't even know there was a breather tube there. When I brought it to the dealer to have a leak on the PTO shaft repaired the technician told me about it. He said if the breather gets plugged, pressure builds up and it either blows where I had a leak or it blows out the axle housing seal. It may be something to check just to be sure, to be sure.
