Kubota b2710
I have a b2710 with about 500 hrs. The range selector lever (L,M,H) moves freely and with no resistance. The tractor is stuck in high range and otherwise runs fine. I checked the external roll pin and it is not sheared, so I think the issue is internal to the range select housing.

I am trying to learn if I need to split the tractor to repair the range shift assembly, and where to do the split. Does anyone know if there is an access route I'm not seeing? If not, can I remove the rear differential and range select housing, or do I need to work from the clutch housing back?

I'm a mechanic but work on heavy truck and suspension, not tractors, and will be attempting to repair the tractor in my own shop. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Best advise I can give you is to buy a Kubota workshop manual.

Thanks! I'll try the kubota forum. I have a copy of the WSM, and have been taking a close look. If only the tractor wasn't still so useful in high-range, I might be working on the range selector already!

I have had the same exact issue with a Mitsubishi tractor. The pin that engages and slides the range gear had broken off the selector shaft. I was able to access the range gear through the top of the trans case. The selector shaft was removed through the side of the case and I was able to weld the pin back onto the shaft. It turned out to be a simple fix that might have taken 2 hrs. at the most. Hope your 2710 is of a similar design.

you made the pin and shaft soft by welding it, though. heat does that!..
