Well, my B2910 should be here in less than a week (and I'm totally busting the bank and also going with a B4690 backhoe unit). However, I want to run something curious by you guys. I asked my dealer about getting the factory service manual as well as a parts manual. I didn't view this as an unreasonable request, but the sales manager went into a big song and dance about the service manual being several large volumes and costing "thousand's of dollars" (and that with all of the high-pressure hydraulic systems ... I should leave that to "trained professionals"). As for the parts manual, he said they didn't like to sell those because part numbers were constantly being updated and changed by Kubota, and that it was likely I would end up specifying the wrong parts in the future based on outdated information. He finished up by indicating that the owner's manual was very detailed ("like a Chilton's guide"), and that I shouldn't need anything more.
I like this dealer overall, but I sure felt like I was being handed a bunch of "stuff" for unknown reasons by the sales manager. Anyone want to weigh in on this? And if it turns out to be valuable to have either or both of these additional sources of information, is there anywhere else I can obtain them (and without spending "thousand's of dollars")?
