The needle on the temperature gauge on my B2910 barely moves up above the C (cold) mark. Anyone else have one of these? How far up does your needle move? I think my gauge works ok--if I ground the wire it pegs the needle on Hot. I took the thermostat out--it was closed, and it opens nicely when heated up in a pan of water. I also heated the sender, and its resistance goes down as it heats up (to 28 ohms at boiling). So....is it normal for the needle to stay down in the "cold" range? Thanks for any replies.

Try replacing the sender. I had the opposite problem, no gauge but the light would start glowing dimly at start up and in no time it was full red. New sender fixed it up:thumbsup::thumbsup:

My 2600+ hour Kubota L4200 temp gauge does exactly the same thing. It just barely moves off of C, and never goes any higher - I've run from 10F to 100F ambient, light loads, heavy loads, beat the snot out of it loads, and it just doesn't ever read any hotter. Not to say this is completely normal, but mine has always read that way for the ~600 hours I've owned it.

I have had three Kubotas and every gauge stayed just over the cold mark.
Just forget about it because they make them that way and a new one
will be exactly the same. Last year I really worked one of the tractors under heavy load
and the gauge did move up towards the middle.
Never got it to happen again.

My 2002 B2910 is the same way. I have never seen the temperature guage go more than 1/4 of the way up...no matter how hard or how long I work it....even on a 95 degree day. The engine sounds great, and the coolant stays clean. I wouldn't be at all concerned about this.

My 2000 B2910 runs just over C. But several time brush hogging in the fall the radiator screen has gotten filled and the temp goes way up.... They just run cool, but if you work them hard the temp will come up... 90% of what I do is at 1200 to 1500 RPM.

But the temp comes up higher during mowing...

Chris
