Hello to all! Well I've been shopping tractors and reading everything I can find on these 2 bad boys and now I'm really stuck. Would appreciate any info or guidence on which way to go. I'm in Alberta Canada and have Dealers nearby for both brands. Is one brand much better than the other or does it boil down to just buyer preference, or are there some red flags I should be looking for? The Kioti people are saying they have a better front end and are more durable. They also priced in within a few $ of each other. The Kioti CK30 HST is costing $18,300.00 CAD and the Kubota B3030 HSD priced out at $17,800.00 CAD (Tractors only). I thought Kioti products were supposed to be less expensive? Or was I just dreaming? Am i getting a good deal? The Canadian $ is worth about 87 cents USD at the moment, so we pay about 13% more than the USA consumers. I plan on a little front end loader work and some grass cutting but nothing too heavy. Would appreciate any input.

PS. WOW! Great Forum and really learning a lot from you all!! Where were you guys when I was shopping a wife? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hello Awert:

Great to have fellow Canuck on board!

These are both very nice machines.

The CK30 is a heavier machine than the B3030 - by a full 1200 lb or so. OTOH lift capacities of the loader and 3PT on these two machines are reasonably evenly matched.

The lighter weight of the B3030 makes it the superior machine IMHO for your application - mowing. The other application - lifting this and that - either tractor will certainly have the lift capacity to handle..

The B3030 is a pretty sweet machine for the average estate owner. Lightweight for mowing applications - yet has enough oomph to do pretty much anything else the average estate owner would want. Pretty nice hp to weight ratio.

Of course dealers are incredibly important. What I found when I looked at the CK30 vs my Kubota L3400 was that the Kioti dealer network wasn't that established here in Ontario. There was one dealer that was reasonably close but I wasn't terribly happy with them. OTOH with Kubota I had a number of dealers within an hour or two distance to choose from. Several looked good. I went with the one that was the best given the combination of distance and perceived customer service / support.

It gave me a lot of comfort knowing that even after I bought from a dealer if there was a real reason to switch dealers I would have a choice with Kubota.

WRT. resale value around here I find that Kioti is still somewhat unknown to the average estate owner / farm owner so resale values for Kubota are much better.

For your application I don't think you can go wrong with the B3030. I think that the days where a Kioti was a bargain are over. At least thats how it seemed to me as well when I was shopping. The CK30 came in pretty close in price to my L3400HST so the decision wasn't about price to me.

Really sucks with the price difference between the U.S. and here. Kubota does have 24month 0% financing on the B series right now.

Hey Awert - at least you won't have to pay PST! Plus if you wait a little bit you might get to save 1% on GST. Adds up for a big purchase like this.

( Actually, according to their web site, Kubota has 0% for 36 months on the B3030 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

Our prices are not only higher in Canada, the financing programs are out as good as our cousins in the U.S.

I just go the spring flyer in the mail today. Pretty sure the B series was only 0% for 24 months. Grand L is 0% for 36 months.

As you can imagine, a duplicate thread is running in the Kioti forum. The good news is no bashing is happening and the two threads agree thus far.

The key is that the primary use is finish mowing. Score one B3030.

I have a B2910 that I love and a BX2200, both Kubotas.

The BX does not have a clutch. Well, not a foot operated clutch anyway. It has a hydraulic clutch I suppose. Anyway, I dislike the BX setup. My B2910 has a foot clutch. I find this preferable. ESPECIALLY if using a post hole digger. Reason being the lever that controls the PTO engagement is on one side, and the lever that controls the 3PH position is on the other. So except for elastic man, operating both levers and looking back at the 3PH is VERY difficult.

I understand the B3030 has a setup similar to the BX without a foot clutch.

IF it were me and knowing what I know now, as a B2910 owner, if I had to choose between the B3030 and the Kioti CK30, I would likely choose the Kioti. Simply because I know how easily it is to screw a PHD down fast when it catches a tree root! I also don't like the way my BX mower kicks in with no feathering at all, bang, its turning. Would not like my brush hog starting that way...

I also like to stop the PTO at the bottom of a hole, lift the auger out, and then start it again to spin the dirt off... I suppose one could do this if the hydraulic pto lever were on the same side as the 3PH lever... Even then, I would only have one hand on that side, so it would be difficult to raise the 3PH and stop/start the PTO at the same time...

EVERY time I engage the MMM on my BX, I wish I had a foot clutch that I could feather during engagement...

I have not seen a B3030 Kubota yet, so take these words with a grain of salt.

I dislike the lack of a foot clutch enough that there is no question in my mind that if it were me, I would go with the Kioti, if it had a foot cluch for control of the PTO...

Seems to be more reliability problems with the Kioti. For that reason I would go with the Kubota.

As a B3030 HSDC owner, i can tell you, its an awesome tractor!

No doubt the biggest shortcomming of the Kubota is when using it with a post hole digger. We've sold B7800's to any customer who intends to do that.
