Kubota B3350 tractor regeneration problems

The smaller engines are going to be plagued with problems until they come up with a different system. The small HP engines just do not generate enough heat when they are used the way most are. Hope for a delete if you want to keep it but I have my doubts that anyone will bother for such a small market.

Exactly, puttering around with your shiny, carefully waxed little tractor won't generate enough heat for the catalyst to regen. It's not your fault or the manufacturers fault, it's the Tier 4 mandate (that I think is BS) at work. Big units that actually work (like mine) attain high enough temperatures to actually catalyize and burn off the particulates. I'd never have a Tier 4 tractor under 90 horsepower.

If you must have a little unit... Get yourself a big concrete weight and attach it to your drawbar and drag it around the backyard for a while and work the motor. It will regen then.

You see, there is this perception that owning a diesel compact tractor is attaining a 'certain' level of wherewithall in a person's life and while that may be true, diesel engines are designed to work hard, not putter around. Do yourself a big favor and buy a tractor with a gasoline engine instead. All your issues will vanish... but then you won't have that degree of 'arriving'.

I find it comical myself. I work my units, they aren't for 'play'/

My little 3350 just regened while I was blowing snow. Temp here is 17 degrees F. Just kept revs at 2500. I do have a short air intake that gets air from behind the rad. Guess I have arrived! No I haven't.....I didn't wax it or even wash it! Oh well, maybe next year!

5030,
It seems counterproductive to drag a big heavy concrete weight around while I am cutting my lawn with a mmm and grass catcher. I'm afraid it would noticably rut up the yard.

Well my filthy 3350 has never been washed much less waxed but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night!

It was 23 degrees yesterday and my tractor had a flawless regen, I have a hundred hours and no problems whatsoever.

What gas powered tractor would you recommend to replace a B3350?

a lot more doom and gloom here than we see in the field. Also some bits that may apply to trucks, but don't apply to tractors. The systems are not perfect, but a vast majority of people will never have an issue with one.

Kubota agreed to take my 3350 back last March after 4 unsuccessful tries at a fix. I accepted a 2650 in exchange with a partial refund to make up for the price difference. I've used the 2650 now for about 9 months and have not noticed a huge difference in power from the 3350. My use has been primarily with the loader and snow blower. I don't know how snow blowing compares power wise with bush hogging, but I'm sure conditions are the major determinant. My only suggestion to you is try the smaller machine or look for a pre tier 4 used one.

PS: I've not heard how much success Deere has had in tier 4 technology, but that might also be worth looking at.

Hi liteship......I bought one of the "take backs" that had 60 hours or so. My dealer here in Southern Maine said that they had done all the fixes that Kubota had recommended. I took a chance and saved a "few" bucks by buying a new/used (warranteed as new) unit and have not had any problems (knock wood) so far. I just regened while while snow blowing by keeping it WOT and it worked like a charm. I am thinking and hoping that Kubota has finally got the Tier 4 units fixed. Time will tell.......I sure do enjoy blowing from a warm cab with tunes playing!

I've got 300 hours on my Kubota B3350, most of that parading up and down neighborhood streets showing off and convincing people I've "arrived".

("Ooh, Momma, come look, there goes that dumb show-off neighbor with his shiny ***** tractor going up and down our street again!")

No problems so far. My back yard does look like a copper mine pit from dragging that dang concrete block in circles. :c)

Okay, so most of the hours are brush cutting, snowblowing, backhoe and loader.

Had it into the dealer for computer updates beginning of December, and whereas it'd do a regen as long as it was running above 2000 rpm before, now it seems like it may need to be run harder yet. I was getting ready to put it away and the regen light came on, just before dinner or I would have drug the concrete block some more. Any way, next day the regen light comes on again and then asks for a parked regen. Did that and all is fine, but it did take longer that I thought it should.

Kubota needs to change the "Parked Regen" cycle so that after it's done, the tractor goes to idle for whatever cool down it needs, then it should automatically *shut off*. Now, it just sits there and idles, loading up the DPF again if you are not checking on it so you can shut it down - most inconvenient.
