What year your B7100HST?
If it has no overflow, I would bet it is going to puke some out due to expansion with temp increase the first time you run it, then it will contract back down. And the next time you run it, it will again expand but since it has already overflowed the amount "extra", it should overflow much less or none at all (depending on temp changes). My point is, it may reach equilibrium. And hopefully when it does, the radiator is still 90% full for normal cooling.
I've had a B7100 since it was new in 1993 and I never mess with the coolant level. Just fill it up, let it puke out any extra and you are good to go until you replace the coolant or you develop a leak. Back in the day, this is the way all cars and trucks were - no overflow tank. Can anyone verify this? Have you checked your B7100 levels (or other thermo-siphon machine)?
I'm replacing the cap and hoses on my B7100 and am confused about this - it seems like without an expansion/overflow tank the system has to be "less than full" to accomodate expansion - but without knowing i'm hesitant to just see a low coolant level and assume it's all good.
okay the initial puke out is normal - you've seen that - makes sense. thanks.I had a B7100 since it was new in 1993 and I never mess with the coolant level. Just fill it up, let it puke out any extra and you are good to go until you replace the coolant or you develop a leak.\
As I recall, it covers the core but is not up to the very top of the opening.okay the initial puke out is normal - you've seen that - makes sense. thanks.
do you know how low "normal" looks like when you look down the neck with the cap removed?
is it still in the neck or down in the radiator somewhat?
