Backhoe Kubota BH77 bucket won't stay extended

I was about to attach my new Bro-Tek thumb when I realized my bucket was curling with just it's weight & gravity! I did have to replace a hose on it last fall just after I got it as it had a hole. I haven't really used it since replacing the hose. Could it just be air in the system? I don't see any leaks & my fluid levels seem fine. Or is this just normal? This is my first tractor so I'm a newbie!!

Probably just air in the cylinder - cycle it a few times all the way out and in should clear it up. WIth a new BH you shouldnt see leak down.

Over time they will leak down - like 3-4 hours and thats normal. Looks like you got the brotek weld on? Did you get the 1" pins or 3/4"? I have the Brotek too, and with the Cat 1 pin 3/4" it was not strong enough for the clamping force of the bucket so Richard made up a 1" for a good price and swapped it out and now its much better.

I use it for walls and rocks we have here in NH and also log lifting and cutting.

My B26 leaks down at all point on the backhoe and FEL with varying degrees of rapidity. THe boom will leak down to the ground overnight or less time -haven't timed it to full ground contact but it will leak a few inches in 15 minutes or so if not pinned up. The bucket gradually falls down over about a week or so, even the stabilizers gradually leak outward a bit. The FEL also will leak down about 3 feet overnight. It seems Kubota has about the most PP valve seats in the industry which is a darned shame considering the price they charge for these TLB's. I once left my LS P 7010 FEL up in the air for over a month and it only leaked down about 2 feet. The 3 PH doesn't leak at all and will stay up indefinitely.

I got my thumb installed - its the bolt on Carl, not the weld on. I ran the BH a bit but not under any load & it was a bit improved. I think I'll get it out & try digging a stump or 2 tomorrow & see if that improves its attitude!!

Nice THUMB :thumbsup: I do not think the bucket control has a cushion valve on it, if I referring to it correctly, but I had a problem a couple of times with my BH77. My problem was the boom would not hold a fairly light load up and would drift down like your bucket. I tried lifting the rear of the tractor off the ground with the boom and it would not. Called the dealer and they said they have seen this and recommended pulling the ends off the control valve. Pulled it apart and everything was clean. Sprayed some carb cleaner on the disassembled parts anyway and put it back together. Worked perfect after that. I later had a similar problem with one of the other circuits, can't remember which one, and the problem was the same thing. I am hoping when I get some more hours on it this problem will go away. It has been quite a few months since this has happened and all is still working perfectly. I posted a couple of pictures showing what I pulled apart. I think they provide the "cushion" or relief, but I do not know for sure. Hopefully someone can correct me. Without going out and looking, I do not think the bucket valve has one of these?? Good luck and I hope you get it straightened out. My guess is, it is something sticking inside the valve.

Thanks for your input Russ. Did you take apart the threaded piece on top of the control valve?
