Seems my dealer went at my BX with what appears to have been a blow torch on the gusset on the three point arms while attempting to comply with SB00-35 Kubota service bulletin. What gets me is this is a new tractor, not a year old, and they did not ask me if I wanted them to cut off part of the gusset to provide clearance per the SB. I think some one owes me new parts, who is yet to be determined. Has this happened to anyone else? are new BX's being deleivered with ground on, hack sawed or torched or otherwise disfigured three point arms. Thanks for any info in advance.

Ah… Now that I read this post, I know what the gusset is (see 3-pt mod thread)… and YES, they did cut it (never noticed it before… I can tell from the roughness and lack of paint).

And No… I don't mind. Before the recall I remember once thinking that gee… If a simple cut was made, the spread would be greatly increased and life would be better. So, having lived with the old design, I am much happier with the new, regardless of what was done. I understand that no one wants to see a costly new item mutated or scratched, but in this case I look at what it can now do. Maybe it's just that my BX is already scratched, dirty, rust on the FEL edge and even one decal is pealing off. But that is because I have been working her so hard this past year.

Still don't understand why my one bottom link measurement is different.

I have a new BX that is fitted with the new design from the factory, and the gussets don't have that extention heading toward the rear, and it's all factory perfect (smooth and painted). I've gone over that SB, and while I understand the retrofit and the cutting, I would have thought that your dealer would at least have smoothed it up and given it a coat of paint! It doesn't take a whole lot of work to make something at least presentable. However, with it done your 3 pt should be more usable than it used to be. Maybe you can talk your dealer into giving you a can of Kubota-gray...

My dealer sends out the parts to be plasma arc cut, much neater than a torch. I would talk to my dealer 1st and if he isn't willing to make things right I would get in touch with a Kubota district office. You got such a crappy job because Kubota isn't paying much labor for the mods and the dealer is a tight wad who only does just the paid for labor.

When my dealer came out to do the 3-point mod on my BX he used an angle grinder to modify the gusset. I think he mentioned that using a torch was what kubota said to do but the angle grinder was a cleaner application. He also brought some Kubota Spray paint and touched up the arms. You couldn't tell it had been modified when he was done.
