Hi,

I installed the rear hydraulics on my Kubota BX 2230D.
The kits needed were the BX 7322 and BX 7324 and I bought these from
Messicks (Messick's | Dealer for New Holland, Case IH, Kubota, Cub Cadet and More | Online Parts, Sales & Service.). Dealt with a Loren Klingaman who was very helpful.
BX 7322 ($295) and BX 7324 ($181) (This second kit is a hose kit and is for a tractor without a loader.)

The kits contain good photo instructions which are easy to follow, but on my tractor, did not anticipate attached plates over the right hand side oil return valve. This looked bad at first, but was an easy problem to deal with.
I carefully documented my steps with photographs and these are available here
Picasa Web Albums - Waterpolo - Kubota BX2230...
Hope this helps the next person.

Robert.

Robert, nice job, very impressive and fine detailing in those photos. Once I got accustomed to your terminology of using "pipes" for "hoses", I was able to follow along.:) Then again, you guys call the "tubes" in my guitar amps "valves".

Have you connected any implements yet? How about that log splitter, have you tried that yet? Didn't know you fellows had any trees to spare for heating fuel over there, I thought you burned peat or something.:D

Seriously, great job and many thanks for the update. It gives me some hope of tackling a job like that on my own.:drink:

 Yeah, I forgot about the language differences! As always it's the little things that trip you up.... This is so easy to do at home, I would not take the tractor to a mechanic. The hardest part was getting the exact kit details for this Kubota model. It seems hard to believe but different models in the BX range all have different kits. Messicks were helpful, but even they suggested the wrong kit to begin with, when I asked them to double check, they said sorry, but what I read deep in a parts list was correct and then confirmed the correct kits for the BX 2230.
Thanks for the kind comments
Actually there has been a big swing back to timber here. I bought a big Jotul Stove (Norwegian make) Jøtul Wood Stoves, Gas Stoves and Fireplaces and it is just great. The log splitter worked very well, pretty much as fast as I can put the timber up to it. (That was a concern, as I read elsewhere that the BX would not be able to move the ram quickly, but this has not proved to be true for my BX model, even though the ram is big.)
Funny you should say about peat - the government is just about introducing a ban on burning the peat from the bogs. Soon peat fires in Ireland could be a thing of the past. Too much valuable habitat was being destroyed, but of course now a lot of folks are saying their way of life is being destroyed. It is a hard debate to call, but I think a man should be allowed cut his own turf (what we call peat) and that it is machine production that should be banned. The sheer physical work involved in hand cutting will limit the damage, because it will put a natural brake on those willing to do it. This will still allow the old ways to continue.

After reading about this here I put these on my BX2230 as I wanted a Hydraulic Center Link on my tractor. Here are the photo's

Nice job. I had about the same exact set up on my old BX1860 with one notable exception. This may not be an issue for your BX2230, but when I mounted the hydraulic cylinder like yours with the 90* fittings on the top side, the one closest to the tractor hit the top link bracket at the back of the tractor when I raised the hitch full up. Sheared the fitting right off. That happened about 5 minutes after I started using it. I had the same Surplus Center cylinder you have. I ended up rotating it so the fittings were underneath, which worked better on the BX1860. Still miss having a hydraulic top link. Thinking about how I might add it back to my BX25.

CHDinCT: Many thanks for the warning. It is not a issue as I kept a eye on it when first installed. I did have to turn the one on my M7040 over and on my old JD 2355. Many thanks for thinking of me.
