Buying Advice Kubota BX-25 with backhoe and FEL

I found one for a little over $13K, but with more hours. No belly mower.

I considered it, but I didn't have liquid cash available and the shop wouldn't finance. Local banks wanted close to 10% for financing a used machine. Then I would have had to find and buy an MMM.

I have to agree with Rock Crawler that I would go used to save $8000 for only 150 hrs use. That is not much run time and 8K would buy a lot of implements for a small BX.

All depends on your bankroll.

I personally wouldn't say that. There are times I buy used when I can afford new just because the used is such a better value. When I got our Jeep I could have got a new one but when I found one with 10,000 miles on it and in perfect condition I bought it and saved over 12k. Just figured no real reason to spend the extra on something that wasn't going to make me money. Not saying you shouldn't buy new, just sometimes it really isn't about what you can afford. I guess if I had Bill Gates money maybe I would look at it different but I sort like like finding a good value - maybe it is a hobby???? LOL

I did caveat on the fact that used tractors are next to impossible to finance except for big users with a line of credit. Us little guys normally aren't running with $10k in liquid assets. We are asset rich but cash poor. There are many many variables to each situation. Only way I could get inton good tractor was to finance a new one.

Old thread but...I had an '08 BX25 TLB I paid around 18K and I sold it for $15,500 in 2015. It had 140 hrs. I kept it outside so the paint was slightly faded but still shiny cause I waxed it from time to time and kept it clean. Great machine! I got 1K more than asking price because there were 2 bidders out bidding each other.

Did the OP buy?

RomeK2, when did you buy your BX25? I thought that the update to the BX25 from the BX24 was for the model year 2009, and indeed I got one as soon as they became available, back in October of 2008. (They told me it was the 2009 model year.)

BTW, new ones (the latest iteration being the BX23S) are now about $20,500 US (minus whatever discount you can negotiate), and I would still not take less than $15k for mine (which has a few extra goodies, but has been stored inside and is in mint condition).

Check, You are right. I looked at my files and found out that I got mine in April of 2009 for $17,170. It turns out that i didn't pay a whole lot for owning it for 6 years (17,170 -15,500= $1,670). I did have $800 showing as interest but I paid it early so I don't know exactly what that additional number is.

I picked up the new BX23S last October 2018. I love the new features except on the FEL Stick I prefer the old ergonomics. I'll get used to it I'm sure as I have not used it yet really. It's still reading 1.9 hrs :)

That’s great, Romek2 - congrats on the new one! And man, they put A LOT of new goodies in this iteration, so do keep us posted on how you are enjoying it.
