Hello again,
Well OK. Sounds like I failed to elaborate that the part of our property that needs to be mowed is 'park-like' with trees and clusters of shrubs/trees and varied topography (hills, valleys). We have a bush hog that is too large to cut between the trees and doesn't give a finished cut which is why I need a mower and a smaller machine for that purpose. The grass has to be cut about 2 x a month for about 6 months a year. The bush hog is OK for the open brush areas.
I'm going to check out prices of used BX's and get more educated. Thanks for your comments.
ZERO TURN
Really, you have a tractor, you don't need 2 (want is another issue, for when you have more money)
I actually was in the same boat as you are. When all the oil leaked out of my abused craftsman mower through bad head gaskets, resulting in the cylinder rods busting, I decided it was time for a real tractor. several months later the results are in my profile. The CK is for heavy work, the H for mowing big areas, because I wasn't spending money on a z-turn, and a 42" mower for tight areas. I will eventually replace the H with a zero turn. The 35HP Kioti has a 5ft rotary cutter that hacks through the woods and tall meadow grass. I have a 6ft belly mower on the H that cuts the lawn very nicely.
What you need is a rotary cutter on the Kubota for the rough stuff, and a zero turn for the lawn. Should be able to do that for under 4K. As said before, a used BX will be about 10K, and ATV with attachments will be 4 to 6K minimum.
