I have 83 hours on my BX and I like the treadle but to prevent fatigue in my right knee, I added 2 inch tube steel spacers under the seat for extra height. See my earlier post on BX additions for a picture by doing a search for tiny tach.

I've used a 50 inch Kuhn tiller extensively and the BX handles it very well despite a weight of 495 lbs.

175 hours on my BX - treadle pedal is one of the best parts about it.

Got a 48" First Choice tilller from Sweet Farm, fits perfectly, works great, much cheaper than the Kubota Unit, about $1K delivered.

I have a Howard Rotavator HR-3 50" tiller. Works great and even the color matches the BX. I'm pretty sure that they had the BX in mind when they marketed it, as on their literature its hanging on the back of a BX2200! Cost was about $1300 and it's built like a tank.

Guess the dealer told you the other brands don't work well because he just happens to sell Kubota tillers.
There's hundreds of folks who use non OEM tillers and love them.

It's the only brand of tractor where you can "Put the treadal to the metal !"
