Kubota BX vs. The Big Rock

In my lawn, I have this little rock that has plagued me for years now. Every year after the winter it comes to the surface and I will invariably hit it while cutting the grass. I have put topsoil over it for the past few years, but it keeps coming to the surface. Today, I decided to dig it out and thought how big can it be.... I learned after digging all around it. It is 3' thick, 5' across, and 4' high. I was able to stand it on end with my little tractors backhoe, but after putting a chain on it and trying to pull it out of the hole, my little BX is no match for this gargantuan monster. I though of digging alongside of it and setting it down below the frost level, but it appears to be another big rock just under this one. I don't know for sure, but it could be even larger. Any ideas what I should do with this????? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif The only think that I have more than leaves is rocks!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif A few years ago I had an excavator come in to do some work and had another one like this in a different part of the yard. After digging all around it, all that could be done was to dig down 20 feet along side of it and roll it into the hole. That rock was bigger than a full size Chevy wagon!!!!! Only wish that I had known about this one back then. I will get a better picture in the morning when it is light out..

Hook it up to the pick-up, SUV, whatever and yank that sucker to a spot where it will make a nice decoration!

Chain a pipe to that puppy, then pull on the pipe and roll it over onto some sort of skid plate (your wife's car hood is NOT elegible) then haul it off.

Junkman, I bet this would be a little bit o' work, but you can drill holes in the rock and use feathers and wedges to break it into smaller, more manageable pieces.

F350's got my vote here! I have people looking for such fine lawn ornaments. After all what else can you do with them. I have got four in my yard and if the neighbors could move them I know they would be gone. I wondor how much more the rock weighs then the BX.

Here there are place that sell rock like that for landscaping. They come and get rocks like that for free.

I have people looking for such fine lawn ornaments. After all what else can you do with them.

I put this one on little hill in my pasture now my 6 year old daughter has a seat when she watches the horses. There is another similar one at the bottom of the pasture right under a tree for a shady seat. Flat rock

there is a post I belive it may be in the china section under the OTHER heading, it was posted by DIYGUY: which shows HOW to move way large rocks using under sized machines with leverages, I've moved some rocks bigger than that one of you're by far using my jinma 284, which is a 28 hp and 3500 lb 4wheel machine. anyhow diyguy has a web site which he posted hot too.s on . looking for the site now. and I'll post a link here.
