I just got my BX1850+54MMM+Loader+Ballest Box.
Ok being an engineer, I bent my pride and i opened up the manual for the removal and installation of my mid mount mower. Something is just not right. I see that you pull the pins on the casters so that you can turn them and roll it out. There are 2 holes availible when you rotate them.

-The upper holes leave it to tall, and the adjustment nuts hit the bottom of the frame.
-The lower holes, some touch the ground and would allow it to roll, except the others are up in the air which means the deck is on the ground.

I ended up sliping (2) 2x4s under the deck, and it slide right in. From that point i did not have any trouble.

Am i doing something wrong, or is something wrong?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I have a slightly different set up -- BX 2350 w/60"mmm, but for mine, I need to move the deck around, front to back of the tractor, to get the pins to slide by the arms. It's a pretty tight fit under there, but I think the upper holes are the only way to go.

Maybe on yours you need a combination of upper and lower. Why don't you just make a careful read of the manual. You being an engineer, I'm sure you barely glanced at it:) Why are engineers like that? We have an engineer who does some work on our farm and he absolutely refuses to even consider reading the directions for anything. This creates a lot of confusion and wasted time, sometimes it leads to dangerous things happening. Don't engineers write those directions?

Yes. That's why we don't have to read them.

There are a great may posts on how to make the MMM deck easier to remove. I use small low-profile 3-wheel dolly assemblies, 4 of them, one under each wheel. Removing the deck otherwise is just a PITA, IMHO. Thing's pretty heavy.

I'll send pictures the next time I have my deck on/off. At the rate this heat is going, it will be next summer, though. Only mowed my weeds twice this year. Only thing that's growing is over my poopie drainfield and my sump pump discharge.

The holes are drilled for the 2350 which has taller tires. I drilled some new holes and complained to Kubota close to a year ago, still no solution from them.

I have a BX1500 and 48" deck, which doesn't even have swivel casters.
I'm a software engineer - not sure if that helps, or if it's an indictment....
Anyway, I did two things to help with the deck removal:
1. Built a dolly. Just a piece of 2'x4' plywood with 4 swivel casters.
2. Before messing with the mower, I drive the tractor up on 2"x4"s, one for the front axle, one for the rear. This raises it enough to get the dolly under it.

I do all of this in my garage - it's hopeless on a dirt or gravel surface.

I cheat and use the FEL to lift the front end of the tractor up in the air.

Why not code yourself a decent API so you can make single function calls to pop your MMM on & off with a mouse click? :) At my work, we might let you use the tractor, but you wouldn't be allowed to put diesel in it let alone work on it. And where did you get TOOLS anyway ??!!

I don't even bother to mess with turning the casters. It's an unecessary step IMO. I just drag the darn thing in and out with the wheels sideways. Works fine on a smooth surface, but elsewhere it would be a problem.

The only thing you have to watch out for is the HST filter which sticks out precariously and likes to snag the mounting brackets and casters if you aren't careful.

...Because it's clearly a hardware problem.

Of course, that entire function could be replaced with "Call lawn care service". But that would reduce seat time.
