Kubota bx25
Just bought a new bx25 and she's a beauty ! Going to start digging tomorrow. What are some of the attachments or mods folks have done to them ?

Congratulations on your purchase! It's a great tractor. The most common and simple things are hooks on the loader, a toothbar, and a thumb for the backhoe, I'd say. It also seems the most common implement might be a box blade. But, what's popular matters much less than what's relevant for your property.

You can use the search feature to find all kinds of posts. Just type in your brand and model number and you will be amazed what comes up. And welcome to TBN

Congratulations! You'll love using the BX25. It is small enough to get around in tight spaces but plenty powerful. Mine is a joy to use.

Congratulations on purchasing your BX25. It's a fine and very handy tractor. I usually have a hook welded to the top center of the front bucket at the dealer. As someone already told you, implements should be gotten for your needs and not just a general bunch of implements.
For me I have a Ratchetrake for the front bucket and it is my most used implement. I also have a boxblade and a tiller and a Ferguson overseeder.
I've had toothbar, landscape rake, rear finish mower, rear grader blade and post hole digger. They are all gone for lack of use because of finishing a project or they didn't help with my needs or my other implements/BH do the jobs better/easier. I also have the cheap ebay quick hitches, had Pat's and sold them. .

congrats! Its a fine machine! I should know! Anyway- as for add-ons and mods, I would say that are tons of stuff done, and many are documented here on TBN. I suggest that you try doing a search here on key words like BX or whatever pops up in in your mind. I'd say that if you give it time, I would say within a year, you will come up with a question on how to mod/add something to fit YOUR needs on your tractor.

My favorite mod is the pvc pipe toolbox to mount on the FEL and chain holder. As soon I posted mine how I did it, others liked my idea and took it a step further to mod it to fit thier needs like painting it, adding handles, etc.

Take a look at harry's bxpanded website, its a good start on awesome addons for your BX.

Before adding anything else, I'd mount set of Bro-tek skid plates. bro-tek or something like them.

I haven't looked at a '25, but if it's like my '24, there's a bunch of expensive stuff exposed underneath.

It doesn't take much to wipe out one of the fans or the wiring harness. (Been there, done that...) Replacing any of those is a $$$ bleep.

Congrats - you will LOVE the BX25. The first thing I would get is the BXpanded.com bucket expander if you plan on using the FEL a lot. I doubles the heaped capacity of the FEL, and believe it or not, the tractor can handle it well. Another good thing is to weld a 2" hitch receiver on the front bucket, but make sure you put it where you can still get the bucket expander on. I would also get a hydraulics test kit with shims, because they tend to under-pressurize the hydraulics, and it makes a big difference. (See discussions about this elsewhere on TBN.)

I also agree you should get a skid plate to at least protect the vulnerable HST cooling fan underneath. And make sure you check the front axle fluid - it will likely be way too low even though it is new!

Enjoy!

Very, very interesting. Thanks for all the replys guys. I have looked at those skid plates, and yes I saw underneath the machine today. Lots of openness and "things" under there. I will invest in a skid plate soon.

About the hydraulics, are you saying the pressure can be upped for better digging with a test kit and shims ?

You bet. Check out the discussions on this - people report a huge impact, and I bought the pressure test/shim kit myself from BXpanded.com. BTW I also got the backhoe dolly from BXpanded.com, because I got a Kubota B2789 rear snowblower and of course I had to take off the backhoe to use the blower. So, I wanted a backhoe stand I could roll around the garage floor, and the dolly works great!

BTW, you might also want to purchase the 3-point hitch for the rear, so you can use the many rear-mounted implements you can get for your new BX25. It's only about $300.

in a word yes. However, I suggest working with your BX for awhile to get to know its weaknesses and how it behaves before upping the pressure. Upping the pressure puts more stress on the tractor parts, making it easier to bend/break something. I upped mine just a little and it was all I need. I seen others upped thier pressure much higher then mine and no problems-- yet..
