Comparison Kubota BX25D. Vs Mahindra 22max

   / Kubota BX25D. Vs Mahindra 22max #11
Oh brother...one of the seemingly most contentious topics there has ever been on TBN.

For whatever reason, some folks take exception to even making a comparison between these two models....and are very vocal about it. In reality, if you don't have any specific criteria (like a door you need to fit through), both will do a great job, so go run both of them and see if you like the way one feels better than the other. Sometimes it's small things that will cause years of annoyance, so let that guide you to which will make you happier in the long run.

Nearly exact same topic here (before the "D" confusion with the latest model):

My choice was between the BX25D and the Max28XL. I ended up getting the Max28XL. Main reasons were as some mentioned, the construction. It's built a little more like a tractor.
MMM is substantially more heavy duty, plate steel vs a stamped steel deck. A true drive over deck.
No cooling fans underneath.
Higher capacity FEL and backhoe.
Engine runs at a lower rpm so it's quieter.
Just general larger size fit me better.
Positional 3-pt control. Works to keep the implement down.
The heavier weight overall works alot better in your favor when actually using the tractor to work/traction.

To be honest it was more expensive and my comparison ended up closer to the B3200 but that became a little more expensive even with the great price I received from Barlows. Capacity and weight issues were alot closer but there was still the flimsier deck and frame. The backhoe had to add additional support to the frame although it was a little stronger capacity wise.

Like said above, go drive both and see what you like and determine what you can live with. Make sure it easily accomplishes what you want it to do because you will always need to do a little more.

Good luck.

For me i wanted a true tlb so i went with a bx25. Wanted a frame mount bh not a 3ph mount. Bx just looks beefier in the bh mounts. But mahindra has an advantage in fel capabilities so that may be a help. Both nice tractors imo

bota4me. The max should be frame mounted. The way you said it sounds like the one you looked at was 3-pt?
With both being mounted and the mahindra being more cast than stamped structure I would bet the max is more solid. That being said I'm sure neither is over working their mounting. It would just come down to the specs. Just wish the were all tested the same so we could more readily believe the "numbers".

i looked at jd , mahindra and kubota and i agree max looks beefier than Regular bx series the tlb bx25 has a frame made for bh and fel and is just stouter looking than max and jd and it works for me i use the bh a lot.
Take a look at them but they are all nice and ALL real tractors.

Mahindra uses a similar frame mount system for the backhoe as the Kubota uses, basically 4 points, nice and sturdy.

Max28XL (Tier IV = Max26XL) is a little larger than the Max22/25 (Tier IV = Max24). It is heavier and longer than the Max25 size.

At least on one model that I recall, the Kubota had more backhoe digging force, and the Mahindra had more loader lift capacity. But I suspect that both perform well. Too much loader lift becomes of little use as you can only get so much in the bucket and there is only so much you can lift and keep the tail of the tractor down. Likewise a backhoe with over the top forces will just yank around the tractor and pull it toward the hole as opposed to pulling dirt from the hole. It's all about balance, but we all like numbers and specs, so the mfgs try to make them as big as possible without breaking things or making things unsafe.

I think on these two models, a person would want to figure out if he wanted a ladder frame or a conventional style tractor. Mahindra and Kubota make both. Then compare those as evenly as possible when considering your uses. If everything else is a wash, go with the better dealer.

Good advice dave i may have looked at a 22 or 25 as i cannot remember.... But your right, go with best dealer and whatever particular tractor
"Works" for you. All good imo and your right about weight vs forces applied. I load up my fel to try keep tractor on ground with heavy bh digging as it gets thrown around like like a 110 lb kid running a jackhammer at times :)

I do like the backhoe attachment on the BX25. We had one here for a while, and it is a quality unit. We had just the attachment, not the entire BX tractor. We made a sub-frame and mounted it on a used Mahindra. The orange and red clashed....but it worked well.

One thing i think someone pointed out and is VERY important is kubotas hydro fan.... Not a worry for me as im not in tall grass or woods but, if your going in woods rocks etc the mahindra has a clear advantage with no fan to trash. Just another thing to think about as that fan is a big job im told to replace$$...

The hydro fan on the BX is not a big issue. BXpanded offers their belly armor that shields it.
