Tractor
none presently.
I have been reading over the information on Kubotas Grand L6060 as well as M9960. Now the L6060 base price is within a few thousand dollars. The L6060 is 60Hp and the M9960 is 100hp. I am just wondering what makes the L6060 so expensive compared to the M9960 which has considerably more hp. Which do you think is the better tractor? Thank you. One last thing If I am buying I will buy it with a cab. Summer weather is just too short in Canada.

Which would be the better tractor all depends on what you'll be doing with them, each is better suited to certain tasks.

Firstly welcome from Ogdensburg,NY.It all depends if you need a 60HP or a 100Hp,that's quite a difference in price of implements. The "L"is going to have more bells and whistles and be HST,the M will be gear of some sort and the FEL and three point will have quite a bit more lift capacity.A lot depends on your intended usage.

id go with the 9960 no q over the 6060.because if the 6060 is like the 6040 the frame of the 6040 is about the same as the mx5100 frame.the 9960 frame is heavier than the 6060 frame by a longshot.

going by the pound the M seems like the better choice but then any Mahindra look more of a bargain with that thinking lol

They are 2 completely different class tractors so you really need to match the tractor to the job. If it were just power I would have my M135GX and forget about my L5740 but I have a lot of jobs for the small tractor that the big tractor can't do and jobs for the big tractor the small one can't touch. You really need to figure out exactly what you will do and then select. The Grand L to M is much more than a power comparison. Compare the M9960 and M100GX. I believe they have the same engine but the price difference is large due primarily to the power shift transmission vs full manual. The hydro on the L6060 does not come cheap.

Pretty much what MHarryE said, we have an L5740 HSTC and M8540, the M8540 is the same tractor as M8840 and very similar to the M9960. We really need both. The L5740 gets used more often, but there are times it is just too small. What you do will dictate which is "best". We pull a ten foot Woods DS1260 through some fairly steep, occasionally rough terrain and the smoother ride, weight and power of the M is essential, but we have some areas it is simply too big, so I go in with the L and a six foot cutter.

It all depends on what your are doing. A bigger tractor is going to need more expensive implements too.

I am a bit ahead of myself. We are looking at buying a hobby farm. It is going to be a retirement project. Something around the hundred acres mark we are thinking. Now I know snowblowing and plowing will be one of my tractors big tasks. Along with that I think we would like to grow hay. Nothing big or fancy. So if this was your situation would you buy the Kubota M9960 or L6060 or some other Kubota tractor? Thanks for the input to my question. It is appreciated.

I'd buy the property first and set a budget aside for the tractor. The tractor you buy should meet your needs and you need to know what property you have first.
