Kubota Dealer % Discount vs Rebates

with the variety of programs, invoice prices, etc. you can't come up with some formula. The best bet is to check with 2-3 local dealers and go with the best offer.

Let me add that it's not all about price. You want a dealer to prosper so you have a good working relationship with a nice business. These are two way streets. This is ironic because I recently bought some parts from Messicks--above. One item was a lot of the same part and someone miscounted and I got shorted by one. I called, explained things and they sent me one the next day--no charge, and no hassle. That is a good dealer.

I happened to buy these parts at a 10% off Christmas sale so I already got a good price and I was happy with it. We both made out OK. But had I haggled, the relationship might have been different, and while I might have got the same treatment, I might not have.

What I'm saying is you need to support the good dealers so they are there if and likely when you need them. It's more than about the lowest price.

Seems like the general consensus so far is that the rebates are generally included the range of discount mentioned. That was kinda my sense but wanted to hear from others. Do dealers sometimes include dealer installed options as part of the negotiation?

Another item that should be brought up is that if you use a financing company, chances are you have to pay for some kind of insurance for the tractor. This insurance will cover the tractor for the life of the loan. Im assuming all tractor finance companies make you pay for it through them. The cost of this insurance will drive up your total cost.

When i bought my Mahindra this past fall, none of the dealers mentioned this when I was calling/going to dealerships getting prices. The insurance added $1600 to the final price.

Great point to add. According to several Kubota dealerships, as long as you can provide proof that your homeowner's policy will cover the tractor, you're good to go. Otherwise, they require you to purchase the policy through them. Most were really good about bringing this issue up without me having to ask about it.

I have never seen a homeowners policy that actually does.

Not a Kubota but when I bought my Mahindra back in 2004 I financed and my homeowners did cover the tractor. I called my HO to fax over a declaration page showing it would be covered for theft or damage with the finance co. as the lien holder. They did and the finance Co. accepted that as proof of insurance so I didn't have to get a separate policy. When I paid it off they sent me a lien release form.

What was the cost of your tractor back then? Just curious if there is a cap on hoe much tractor value they would cover? I racked up a $32000 bill with my whole purchase. Would a homeowners policy cover that amount.

Obviously the insurance would cost more too if you went with the 72 or 84 month loan like I did.

At the time of my tractor purchase, we were building our house and didnt even have a home owners policy yet, so that option wasnt do able for us.
