I agree it is probably a fuel delivery problem but this may be totally off base but is it possible there is something going on with the governor?

Remember.. this is a diesel.. if it's a gov/stuck issue.. that creates a fuel delivery problem.. IE.. it's all in the injection pump.. etc.

OK guys.. I GOT IT TO WORK!! Thanks!!!

Pulled the discharge hose off the pump and turned the key on to check flow... nothing. So the i took off the line leading to the pump after the fuel filter.... still nothing ( or I should say very little ). So off comes the fuel filter.... and guess what? nope, wasnt that either. Shoved my blowgun into the line gave it a puff of air and it let loose. Something i imagine is in my tank. Its running, atleast for now until it reclogs. I put Seafoam in it as well. I am gonna run the fuel level down a bit and then pull the tank if i need to. Does anyone know if there is a screen on the outlet of the fuel tank? Can you see it with an empty tank? or does it HAVE to be pulled???

Pulling the tank isn't a whole lot of fun, from what I have read here about repairing/replacing the tank.

Let's hope it was just crud and the seafoam and natural swishing action causes it to break up. This was about as good an outcome as you could have expected. If it does it again, you'll know just what to do. I would have another fuel filter standing by as that crud breaks up (hopefully) and gets caught up. Again congrats on your working it out.

You could check the fuel return from the pump. It may have gotten partially clogged (rubber line)or crimped ( steel line) so the unused return fuel cannot freely flow back to the tank. A completely blocked return line will only allow an engine to start and then it will not run but a few seconds. Good luck.
