Can I remove the filter and clean it without changing the oil? Would it leak oil out or maybe best is to take it in get new filter screen and hydraulic oil change

Screen clean will lose fluid, filter, depends on height compared to fluid. Check your invoice to see what was done the last time you got it repaired.
