Kubota L2501
I have been looking for a front mount mower with 4WD. I keep landing back on the Kubota F series tractors. So, I am constantly searching sites for F2260, F2560, F3060, F2400, GF1800, etc. They do not seem easy to come by, especially locally (but I have good Kubota dealer near by for parts/servicing if needed).

Recently, I found a F2560 4wd for $6.5K (he might be willing to do $6k) within a hour of me. Owner/seller told me he is the second owner and just wants a "bigger" mower... I assume he means "bigger" deck. The ad states the below:
  • Runs great
  • new starter, battery, and dust guards
  • 60” rear discharge deck in great shape - I am good with rear discharge
  • Hours: 1417 (per picture) - will ask if this is accurate and ensure it is working if I go see it
It is a basic set-up, no additional attachments, just the 60" deck... which is all I am looking for. It appears to be in good shape per pictures, but obviously would need to see it in person to check overall condition, rust, etc. If it checks out, it seems like a fair price based on internet searches, but there is also not a ton of data out there and the sale prices I have found do have a wide-ish range.

Bottom line, I am just looking to get some input from those "in the know" on whether it is worth going to see in person based on price and the above details?

Thanks!

That seems pretty good. I paid about double that for an F3860 with 1000 hours and a brand new 72” deck.
The new models have DPFs which can be troublesome, so the older good condition units fetch high dollar.
I blinked and missed out on a ZD326 diesel 54” deck with only 250 hours! They wanted $7,000. A really nice homeowner, indoor stored piece. 2 years ago it would have been $5,000.
Used, non dpf machines are really high priced now.

If it's the only one you can find and it fits your needs it's pretty much your call as to whether the price is acceptable.
There are 6 on Tractorhouse right now.

Thanks RickB, I’m familiar with tractorhouse site, that’s the “wide range” I was referring to. I’m asking about the one I found to see if anyone here had more specific input, because I’ve found some great info on these forums in the past. I’m not in a rush, so can afford to wait if this is not a decent deal/price. This more of a “want” than a “need” for me right now :)

Hay Dude, great info... does make me wonder if waiting 6 months to a year might be smarter. Feel like there’s still some post-pandemic supply-demand things going on. As I just said in another reply, this is more of a “want” than a “need” for me right now.

Comparitively speaking that one is a good value. Good non-emissionized equipment won’t decrease in price or become more abundant.

I don’t think it’ll resolve in 6 months. It’s a dpf issue and an inflation issue.
However, that is a GOOD price if you ask me. That unit would be sold in my area if in good conditions, low hours at that price. If it looks good, go for it. You’ll have no trouble selling if you decide to sell it.

Good to know... thanks for input. We just got an L2501, and one of the drivers was being not having to meet extra emissions requirements (being under 25 HP). And we have no real need for bigger machine. Actually the L2501 is probably overkill, but that was intentional.

OK, even better feedback. Understand your points on the DPF “issue”. I’m going to try and go check it out in person... might report back here before pulling the trigger.

And if the 1400-1500 hours is accurate, that is low hours for this particular machine, correct? Considering years manufactured, typical usage, etc.

Is there anything F2560-specific I should look hard at when seeing it in person or taking it for test run?

That’s reasonably low hours. Should go 4000 hours over the life of the machine. I would drive it and listen for abnormal sounds, check for frequency of oil/filter changes, listen for belt/deck engagement, grasp spindles and see if they shake. Check main gearbox for wear. Look at engine smoke on startup. Grasp driveshafts ad feel for excessive wear
RickB very knowledgeable on Kubota and can help a lot.
