Kubota F series

I’m patiently waiting on my New F3710 4wd to be delivered …..
Well I’ve got 10hrs on my New F3710 72 that I bought to mow my steep bank with.
It ran thru its first regen @ 8hrs then ran scalding hot @ 9hrs due to radiator stopping up from dry clippings : I was COVERED !!!

I’m disappointed in this 4wd mowing my bank horizontally

It won’t stay straight & slides off the hill due to both front tires equally pulling.

I completely fluid filled all 4 tires & it helped but it still won’t Stick sideways.
It mows strait up & down tho great with good traction.

My ZD1511 sticks good horizontally when soil is dry because you make the lower tire do all the pulling & it don’t slide.

My used F is pre emissions, just like I like it. Tractors are as well.

It's a mowing fool I might add.

I certainly like the power : not bogging in thick grass. & it rides better with all 4 tires fluid filled.

But the 4wd front deck mower don’t behave well mowing steep bank’s horizontally here.
& grass was bone dry.

Rear Steer walks the hind end down the bank when trying to stay strait.

Well, you better run out & get one !!
Bet that thing chews up gas like a big block chevy LOL
Far as I can tell, all the aluminum block V twins are gas hogs. That and none of them will be working as long as a diesel either. Too bad they (engine builders), Kohler, Briggs and Kawasaki don't make a small diesel as well.

I've mowed the yards 3 times now on 1/4 tank of off road diesel.

…. My original premise is a zero turn mows twice as fast as a front mount F mower and I stand by that 24/7/365. Zero turn mowers aren’t better, they are faster.

Only thing an F will do better is traction. And I can say with absolute certainty that a zero turn with bar tires will climb & descend steep hills and get almost as good traction as an F and do it much faster on all but the steepest hills. It’ll also cost less to buy and maintain.

My F-3680 is an excellent machine, but it’s slowing us down and not getting used enough to hold onto …

You are 100% correct (y)

I should have rented or tested a 4wd front deck to mow my steep bank horizontally FIRST Before buying one

The rear steer walks downhill with the tail-swing when trying to mow strait lines then you’re sideways & can’t recover : sliding further down the hill.

With The zero on dry ground : you’re making the lower tire do most of the pulling therefore keepin you fairly strait & the upper tire is barely pulling.

Front deck 4wd is a Totally different animal & made to get traction going strait up & strait down steep smooth inclines.

Has any F owners out there mowed Steep banks Horizontally ?

I know these get good traction mowing up or down but the rear steer tail-swing makes the rear end scoot downhill a foot or so when trying to steer uphill to stay strait inline from my 9.5hrs of running this new unit.

It just doesn’t work for my application.

Dang bro. That was quick!
I tried to help ya!
I gave up on mine because it was too slow. Sure it gets better traction, but I didn’t have enough hills to justify it and I have become a lot better ZT operator and have better touch on hills.

@Hay Dude you did try to help me (y)
Front deck is plenty fast speed wise in low range.
It will not pull this bank in hi range.

I just knew this 4wd would stay “sideways” on my steep bank like a champ with it being 4wd but the rear steer having tailswing moves the backend downhill while correcting steering to keep a strait line

The front axle being 4” Narrower (than ZD1511) makes it sketchy feeling like it’s going to tip over : even with all 4 fluid filled.

Now it’ll mow it fine going strait up & strait down but that method takes well over double the time.

I’ll continue to mow it horizontally with ZD1511 & Fluid Filled tires only WHEN SOIL IS BONE DRY.

I’d never been on a steep bank with a front deck.
I should have found one to rent before buying one

Lesson Learned 😩
