Kubota front loader cylinders

There was no o ring under the piston on this loader cylinder. No extra o rings in the kit either.

I have pasted the parts illustration for the lift cylinders on the Allied Loader I had.

The pictures you posted looked identical.

When the lift or bucket cylinders started to leak down I used to replace all the seals which came in a kit but it was expensive and I soon realized it was the tiny O ring shown as #18 which I could buy from a hydraulic shop.

In 2012 seal kits for two bucket and two lift cylinders were $90.

Is there any obvious way the piston on your cylinder is sealed to the push rod?

Could this metal ring be the seal between the piston and the rod?

Mine didn't have a provision for an o ring like that. The picture of the nut does look like there is a seal there....but there isn't. It's just the way it looks. There was just a nut on there. Nothing special.

Where does the metal ring I pointed to with a red arrow go?

Something has to stop the high pressure oil bypassing the piston where the rod passes through it.

Do you have or can you get a parts view of your cylinder like the one I posted?

Maybe someone had it apart before you and left out some critical parts. Not everything always comes in a seal kit.

To Rclement.

Your loader will have labels on it cautioning you to never push with the bucket tilted forward as the leverage on the cylinders goes way up and things will break.
I am assuming your bucket cylinders do not connect directly to your bucket but to a lever arm which moves the bucket.
The external damage should be obvious. Check for that first. Something may have broken and the cylinders are no longer connected to the bucket.
The green arrows show the levers moving the bucket.

In the photo the bucket is about to be connected to the loader.

Likely expensive fix!

There is no metal ring there. It kind of looks that way but there is no seal or ring. The parts diagram for this loader does not show any o rings or seals in, under, or on the shaft. Nothing there.

The cylinders were leaking oil OUT of the seals. When I pulled it apart, I believe that some of these seals had been replaced before but they looked a bit different so I suspect that they used aftermarket seals which worked for awhile....but probably not as long as actual Kubota seals would have.
