Kubota Grand L4760 vs Kubota M7060

As previously mentioned, we have a Grand L and M See or so years ries and neither is nicer than the other. One of the things I love bout the bigger M Series is the limited slip front differential. The tractor we replaced got stuck about once a month, our M8540 has never been stuck in the nine or so years we've had it.

We have a M7060 on my father’s 100 acre farm. I would not say you are giving up many bells/whistles. The transmission is very different, but that is a choice and not giving anything up. He has a cab version...and it is quite nice. If you are very used to HST and operate it very efficiently it is going to be frustrating at first. However if you take your time in the HST I doubt you will notice much difference with a shuttle. It works out just fine. It is a much bigger machine than the L series....just keep in mind that usually means less maneuverability. It is also harder to see some things on the ground. For dirt work I strongly prefer the M62 due to compact size, weight, driveline, and visibility. For field work the M7060 is awesome.

Exactly! I was going to sell my old John Deere once I got the cabbed Kubota. But I've been doing a lot of dirt work, pushing dirt backwards with my big box scraper, and found out it's a lot easier with the John Deere. Facing around backwards in the Kubota with that high-back bucket seat and arm rests is harder on the old body than the low seat on the Deere.

In 1998 my father in law decided he needed a cab tractor and trade his MF375 open station inn on it. I tried my best to talk him out of it, but son in laws who actually grew up farming really don't know much. They came with the new Case CX70 and took the MF. A couple of weeks later I notice the MF back in the barn. He had to buy it back and paid dearly for it.

If you have much land or varied chores, the ideal tractor is often two or more.

Does the seat not turn on the M7060? It was one of those features on the Grand that I thought I would never use, but finding myself using it a lot to save the strain on the old back/neck.

It's the high back and the arm rests that get in the way of my shoulders. The John Deere has a low seat that I can swivel around on and face backwards. No, no swivel to the Kubota seat.

Unfortunately no swivel. I thought I heard the same thing and when I had a chance to visit mine while it was being setup I learned the seat does not swivel. I am looking at cameras to help look to the rear.

I have both a GL with HST+ and a shuttle shift. While both work just fine I find that I prefer the HST. Not having to deal with the engine speed just seams to make it easier. The biggest plus is the two speed hydraulic motor for the HST. Simply flicking a lever and being able to shift down makes it so much easier. For brush hogging, I can't see either one really having much of an advantage as you most likely just set the speed you want and go. Driveway work could be an either or thing. If you are constantly changing directions then the HST would be nice. But the heavier weight would also come in handy. I think given a few hours in the seat and you'll be just fine with the M7060.
