</font><font color="blue" class="small">( My dealer wants $18 aus for a 400 gram can of spray paint, a local guy will mix it for $18 aus for 4 litres, i don't think i'll give kubota my business. )</font>

Realistically it is a double edged sword. At some point you may have
to as it could be the most inexpensive route to address a particular
problem. But touch up paint is certainly not one of them. Around
here it is a dealer independent $8 a can. Those who feel compelled
to support their local dealer's exercise in price gouging are certainly
free to do so.

Kubota Orange II (exact match to new factory paint):<ul type="square">
[*]BPS Tractor and Implement Paint, Allis Chalmers Orange 4431-03 (TSC)
[*]Dupli-Color Engine Enamel, DE1620 Chevrolet Orange (WalMart)
[*]Rustoleum #7458 (Home Depot)
Kubota ROPS/Frame Grey (close match):<ul type="square">[*]Rustoleum #7784 (Home Depot)
Note you still have the issue of UV fading with which to contend so
in many cases some color mismatch is inevitable. The less than
exact match on the ROPS/frame isn't very noticeable in practice and
isn't worth the trouble to get an absolute perfect match IMHO.

Yeah, but did you notice Home Depot colors are orange and gray too?

For the life of me, I can't understand why someone would buy an expensive tractor and then not buy OEM paint from the dealer. A spray can of ROPS Grey (exact match, no fiddling around, no off color) is around $4.00. Same holds true for Orange II. Both Orange II and ROPS Kubota brand spray paint have excellent coverage properties, they dry quickly and best of all, have the same gloss and color when dry as the factory applied finish. It's a no brainer.

Supprot your dealer and Kubota.

I took a grey piece to Lowe's and they scanned the color and mixed a quart of paint similar to Rustoleum. It has held up good so far and the color was a very good match. I will attach the paint formula from the top of the can. I hope this helps.

A penny saved... is from Ben Franklin who also said "Beer is proof that God wants us to be happy". I like Ben Franklin.
Buy paint from a dealer, any dealer.

All the best,
Martin

Ben Franklin said that before they invented the income tax. Now it's "a penny saved is two cents earned" if you figure in all federal, state and local taxes. The government wants to "grow" the economy only to grow their cut. Had any work done in a shop lately? What was their hourly? What does a guy have to charge to send a guy out to help you...basically too much because the government is right there in his pocket not only taking taxes but license fees as well. So I'm a DIY guy whenever possible. Someone once told me I needed to hire a "professional" to chase a swarm of bees out of my mailbox, when I said I could do it mysef, he told be I needed to share my wealth with a working guy, OK, we are all working guys but I don't need some stinkin politician in my pocket trying to "redistribute" my wealth. Guys like us who work long hours and save a buck should not be required to pay for some other guy who won't put in a full day... Anyway, back to that $12 can of paint, it better be at least twice as tough and fade resistant as the $6 stuff IMO.
