Anyone know the story behind the Kubota hood emblem. I don't have a picture but it's the (I think) crome triangle with the ruby stone in it?

Curious...

About the best pic I found...the new to me tractor.

When I started working on Kubota's 20 years ago , the hood emblem on the b6100,7100 and up, looked like a bull's head. I was told that Kubota in japanese meant little bull. Most emblems now have been changed to circle with K inside. I don't speak japanese, but maybe someone out there does.

On my 1981 L-345 the steering wheel center had an image of a gear and the hub end of a pipe. In those years Kubota was already large player in Japan's heavy industry. Kubota refered to itself in its advertising as a "Basic Necessities Giant", producing everything from cast iron pipe to sophisticated machinery. Not an answer to your question but it seems to show their "emblem" has changed through the years. The gear logo is still in use I think.

They still refer to themselves as the basic necesseties giant. It's printed as part of a little company mission statement right in the back of my brand new BX2350 owner's manual.

I think it's the most interesting statement of company philosophy I have ever seen. It talks about Kubota's desire to help people and nations use there basic resources to reach their full potential. Or something along those lines.

I noticed that too. The wording is kind of odd and seemed maybe to have lost something in translation, but interesting nevertheless.

I'd still like to know what the hood latch is supposed to be and what Kubota actually means. If it means 'bull' that's kind of cool.

I think Kubota still makes a lot moer than just tractors and I'm pretty sure they are a big provider of diesel engines for a wide range of industrial uses.

Anyone know of a resource that has more about Kubotas history and current make-up?

A big bounce up with this old post and a good picture of the emblem I took over the weekend. My previous owner had a problem with the spray can.

:)

This is all I can find on the meaning of Kubota. Maybe if I could search it in Japanese we could get a better explanation.

Kubota is a Japanese surname, and may refer to the following:

* Toshi Kubota, Japanese singer.
* Kubota Corporation, tractor and heavy equipment manufacturer.
* Kubota (sake), a Japanese sake.
* Shigeko Kubota, visual and performance artist.
* Dr. Kubota, the antagonist in Ordyne.

George: Within the last year Kubota had a complete story of the history of the company on their web site, spanning more than a century. I don't know if the info is still there?------LEE

Rob, from the looks of that emblem I think you have a Pokemon rather than a Kubota. :D

HEHE I'll have to ask my kids about that. Heck the tractor is a 1999 model, not sure if Pikacu was around that far back. Maybe.
