Funny, that's the exact expression I used when they put it up. The bottom supports are spiked into the ground using 4 ft lengths of thick rebar with a "head" welded on them. They took a lot of sweat to get in so I'm comfortable they will hold. The building has a 20 yr guarantee...NOT flying away is part of that.

TonyC- That looks like a great tractor house. You can almost see the smile on your Kubota. Who is the manufacture, what size is it and, at the risk of being rude, about how much did it cost?

I don't mind at all, Mark. It was custom built locally by a place called Expert Aluminum. They do siding, gutters, windows etc plus build these things. I was watching them build one when I ordered mine. They use all heavy gauge galvanized steel for the structure and they bend it and weld it up in their shop. Of course, they assemble it on site. It is 32 ft wide by 25 ft deep...about 15 ft high in the center. You can get them with sides, windows, garage doors etc but I just wanted mine open. I can always close it in later. The whole thing in total cost $2700.00. I priced the lumber to build it from wood and it was about $3500. I am partial to wood buildings. I think they have more character. But for $800 difference and to attempt to build it myself, it was an easy decision.

Tony,

Thanks for the information. Nice building and you are right about the price of lumber. That seems like a pretty good price for that much covered space.
