Could anyone tell me a NAPA or FRAM or some other current part number for the hydraulic filter on the little backhoe? The manual says 7039332 for a filter part number, but of course that doesn't correspond to anything that anyone has ever heard of!

Is it a K650 backhoe, or an L650 backhoe? Kubota's parts site (Kubota Tractor Corporation - Parts List) does not list a K650, but it does list a L650 which looks a lot like the ones pictured in this thread. The L650 uses a filter with a PN of: 70020-00165 ($25 at Messicks: Messicks Part Search )

The label on it says K650. It came from a very old, small Kubota which has sat in the rain here in Juneau for decades. Apparently these were sold in the late '70s, when Kubotas were first imported? That would fit the probable time line for that old beast.

The filter on my K650 is a NAPA 1259. I see they are about $15 (including shipping) from Amazon. Reading a little online, these are common for hydraulic and A/T applications. Wix 51259 is the same thing.

Thanks, California. Today I was able to get some help from a parts store that had the Wix filter, and that Wix 51259 fit on my L650. They also offered me a Fram P1653A.
To summarize: for L650 and K650, any of Wix 51259, Fram P1653A or NAPA 1259.

Your nearest hydraulics shop will have everything you need. These were made from generic universal US off-the-shelf components. Take in measurements and the old seals and they will hand you fresh equivalents.
My experience: I had a loader cylinder rebuilt by the local hydraulics shop. I noticed they used a huge pipe wrench to unscrew the end cap. When my K-650 needed seals I bought HF's largest (4 ft) pipe wrench and still needed a cheater pipe to get an end cap off. Leave one end of a cylinder attached to the bh so you have resistance to wrench against. Rebuilding these cylinders is simple.
As for finding catalogued parts - I've never seen current listings in the 15 or so years that I've owned mine.
