OK, Kubota has been around a very long time in this country. Has Kioti been around as long or are they a knockoff of Kubota. They use the same colors. Are Kioti's the cheaper Kubota version? Are the Kioti's made in China? The Chinese make a lot of knockoff products. How is the Kioti quality compared to the Kubota..same/worse?? Are the Kioti's a Chinese Jinma? I just want to find out if they (the Kioti's) are even worth looking at, I don't want to take a lot of time researching every nut and bolt. Thank you
I recently had to make this very same decision Kubota 4240(42 hp) with a la854 loader, skid steer bucket or Kioti Dk40se (41 hp)with a KL401 loader skid steer bucket. The kubota setup was priced from $24,500-$25,000 I ended up buying my new Kioti for $18,000 cash out the door price(with the cash rebate). This is my first Kioti tractor I have ever purchased I hope I made the right choice, time will tell.coobie

I faced pretty much the same choice when I decided to upgrade (I also considered the GL3940) but the DK40se was $4000-6000 less so it was a no brainer. I had previously owned a Kioti CK20 so I had no doubts about the tractor quality. I'm very happy with the DK40se after 50hrs.

A long time ago, Kioti bought the tooling to a prior model Kubota and for years told the tale that their tractor was the same only built in Korea. Thye persisted in this even when they were building their own designs due to Kubota's good reputation.

Finally Kubota received a cease and desist order from the Federal courts on this matter but the blue and orange colors and even some of the styling ques are similar between the two. (Ever look at a Kia automobile?) They are different tractors and now that Daedong has bought Bobcat, look for more of a US footprint with their excellent dealer network and distribution.

"now that Daedong has bought Bobcat" That may be my favorite line. :D

Boy I hope this is a joke or something...

Going its own way: Cummins takes a different route to emissions

It wasn't a joke, Dmace, although it was a touch outside the ten ring. From the article linked above:

"Around the middle of the year its parent company, Ingersoll Rand, confirmed what had appeared to be unthinkable--that it would accept offers for the purchase of Bobcat, one of the iconic companies of the industry that did a lot toward making compact equipment such as skid-steer loaders and mini excavators major parts of the equipment landscape in North America. For a brief period, speculation ran wild over who would end up with the North Dakota operation, with all the usual suspects trotted out. But when the dust settled the winning suitor was somewhat surprising. South Korea's Doosan Infracore acquired Bobcat as well as IR's Utility Equipment and Attachments business units for a cool $4.9 billion.

Interestingly enough, at nearly the same time that acquisition was announced, Bobcat also signed a long-term strategic agreement with another Korean heavyweight. Daedong Industrial Co. Ltd. will produce a line of Bobcat-branded compact utility tractors that is intended to complement Bobcat's compact equipment lineup. "

I looked at the Kioti DK's last week. Nice tractors! BIG compared to the L3540.

Dollar for dollar you generally seem to get "more" tractor with Kioti. I think that if price is limits you from buying your ideal size in a Kubota, Kioti is something to look at.

If size is your limiting factor, as it is for me, and Kubota, Kioti, NH, Deere et al, all fall within your chosen spending cap, Kioti still does ok. I didn't think the DK35SE was quite as refined as the Kubota, and I didn't like the ergonomic as much. But that stuff is personal. If I were going to be pulling a plow with it, I'd take the Kioti Dk40 or 45. . .

So, tell me again where it says "Daedong bought Bobcat"...

Daedong is just producing the tractors that Bobcat will recolor and resell. They did not buy them!
According to your article, "South Korea's Doosan Infracore acquired Bobcat as well as IR's Utility Equipment and Attachments business units for a cool $4.9 billion." Doosan is not Daedong, I know they both start with a "D" but that does not make them the same. They are not even in the same country.

Dmace,

Not sure what the issue is. Bobcat was sold, and to a Korean company. It just wasn't Daedong, which is why I said Yankee Clipper was "outside the ten ring". Are you saying one of these two companies is N. Korean? I'm pretty certain that's not the case. ;)

They are both South Korean companies. Doosan is huge. Daedong is a medium size company.
