Grading Kubota L 5740 for grading tractor

I am hoping my fuel usuage is way off as I have not really run this at pto speed for much time I try to stay between 1800-2200 for just little jobs. This summer I will know better as I plan on restarting my hay operation with a mower/conditioner behind this tractor. Coming from my old gas mf 35 I am using a lot more fuel for similar tasks Mf 35 normal rpm was 1200-1600

I'm not an expert on Kubota's but they don't have cruise control? Guess it's not a huge feature I think I've used it all of once or twice on my JD - I don't do a lot of mowing and more loader work - but it seems like they'd offer it:confused:

The cruise control holds propel pedal position. A cruise that holds engine speed is different. My tractor has Stall Guard which is advertised to hold your PTO speed (and consequently engine speed) when it pulls down under load but actually all it does is shift the propel motor from high range to low range. Our cold planers at Cat use the engine ECM to vary the propel pump electronic control to hold engine speed constant at 100% rated power if that is what you set. The engines had like a 45% torque backup so there was no need to hold like 90% power to have something in reserve. That is what I would like in a tractor but I wouldn't want to pay the 10X price that the cold planer cost.

I looking for a new light / medium grading tractor for my dozer service and just wanted to get some opinions. I've post on the bobcat section the same question. I'm new to this site but not equip. so don't hold back ! Will mostly use for light grading / small resid. house pads. So far Kioti and Bobcat are on top. I know Kubota quality and parts are good so any input on the tractor itself would be great ! Thank you

I have a 5740, with just over 300 hours. It is great. you might also consider the M series.... I think the 5100 has an HST and a few less bells and whistles.

It is standard equipment on the Grand L series!!!!

I've not ehard of this much fuel consumption and I'd wonder if you are in the right range for the job. My second thoughts would be that many dealers set them up in what I call soft mode and that would make a difference in fuel consumption.

I recently purchased a B3200, an upgrade from a B7510 (21hp). I liked the size and hp combination. With the 7510 I was taking an hour to knock down and spread 14 tons of limestone. With the B32 I can do that in half an hour. I think the size is an asset as I can go where the larger tractors cannot. I have seen a couple of JD's at new home sites. They seemed too large for the work area. I have had good success with the 7510 in the 5 years I have owned it. Only one issue and that was with the on board "computer" - the device that allows the tractor to run if all the safety inputs are communicating with it.

Only you can really determine the size tractor you need based on what you will be using it for. I looked at some larger Orange and Blue but kept coming back to the B32. If you do not need mid-pto the B33 is more economical to buy.

The dealer I bought from carries the NH line. The Dirt Boss looks like a real dirt mover.

So I've found out. I read someone else's post that seemed to state it didn't and I was surprised.

What's the difference in the two tractors ? I know I like the cab in the 5740 and a cab is a must.

Kubota guys please correct me but they are pretty much the same in capabilities, a few differences, but the Grand L 40 series is the "luxury" tractor vs the economy version. Both will work just as hard but the GL 40 will be a little smoother operation and such. A GL series cab would be much nicer as well.

The M series tractors are AG tractors and are bigger than the Grand L's. Yes the largest Grand Ls are as big as the small M's, but the M's get a lot bigger than the Grand L's. I believe that you can get just as nice if not nicer cabs on the M series vs the Grand L's.
