Kubota L2350 4x4, no 4 wheel drive

Hi, names Rob111, I have a 20 year old give or take L2350 with bucket that the 4 wheel drive went out on. still runs on rear wheels so I'm guessing it front. Anyone know of known problems I should look for first? Thanks

An awesome tool at your disposal is the Kubota website (Kubota Tractor Corporation). Once there click on "parts". Then "illustrated parts list". Then select your model and follow the directions. You will see great illustrations of how your tractor is assembled and the parts involved. Might be something there that would guide you toward the problem. I've attached a link to the transmission section of your tractor which illustrates how all of that works.

These tractors are extremely reliable. With that in mind I'd look for simple fixes first. Is the 4wd lever actually working and engaging into the transmission case?? Put the lever into the 4wd position, then jack up one front tire, can you spin it?? If you can spin it is the front driveshaft spinning also?? If so, the engagement process isn't working. If not, the problem is within the front axle assembly.

Try to eliminate as many issues as possible. In that process you will narrow down where the problem is. I don't think you are going to find a member on here that can tell you definitely where your problem is without you giving us much more information.

I concur with the above post. What I would look for first(should the driveshaft not spin (with front tires off the ground and rotating) is the front drive shaft coupler. I witnessed two Kubotas just this year(and it's not limited to Kubota) where the front coupler's internal splines simply wore through and failed to drive the front axle. Cause for the failure in both cases was excessive wear in the front axle supports and related pivot bushings. Very common problem when these points are neglected and left ungreased.

On my L2550DT I just replace the pinion gear on my front differential as well as the spline that connects the drive shaft. My spline bit the dust and trashed the pinion gear input spline after only 5200 hours or so. I suggest lifting one wheel off the ground and rotating it with the engine off and 4WD lever engaged. Listen for sounds. The driveshaft is enclosed so you cannot see it turn.

Lifted front end. wheels turn easy. one turns in reverse as expected. can propelled shaft be removed under tractor by disconnecting from front end and pulling from end close to trans?
almost like you would a drive shaft from a car.

Is a maintenance man. available online? Pretty sure I got it but working in driveway on back.
