My Kubota L2800 will just die. It will start right up. I replaced the fuel shut off solenoid ,seat safety switch no luck. sent it to dealer They replaced a safety switch on the forward & reverse stick a spring was broke. It came back with same problem. It went to dealer 2 more times. they checked all relays & anything that might cause the problem .It would not mess up for them. It will click 2 or 3 times before it dies & sometimes it will just die but starts right up. most of the time. Any help would be great. Thanks little K

Have you checked the ignition switch? Also, loose wires are a common problem. Loose ground wires are often overlooked.
Inspect the fuse block as well an make sure the fuses are seated in the block and no corrosion causing intermittent contact.

...It will click 2 or 3 times before it dies & sometimes it will just die...
How much do you weigh and are you sitting straight in the seat? If I lean over to look at the tire or ground, tractor will try and die (but no clicks), I can get back into the seat, It usually will not cut off...

Same with the PTO switch, if I forget to flip it forward when I'm getting out of the seat, no clicks it just dies and I can usually flip the seat up to keep it from cutting off completely.

So every time your tractor dies... it will start back up with no problem? Wondering where the clicks are coming from...

How often is it doing it to you?

Easy enough to bypass the safety switches to eliminate that as a problem.

thats odd, but sounds like a safety or the ignition switch. What are you doing and the conditions when its doing this? When it starts back up does it hesitate or starts immediately?

Have you tried wiggling the key while its running? back and forth and in and out?

Turkey day I was driving tractor back to shed. Normal slow speed. It died 1 time started right up. Then started clicking & tried to die 2 or 3 times but didn't. I weigh 200lb. I have a new safety seat switch. Have not checked fuses or key switch & wires. I will check these out when I get a chance. I hadn't thought about the ignition may be a good place to look Thanks for the help!! I will report on what I find. thanks little K

one thing for sure if the dealer can reproduce the problem then its happening when you are doing something they didnt! As was mentioned above a loose wire would do this too, when you say its starts right back up "most times", whats it do when it wont start? is it totally dead or does it try to start and wont?

One time it died I let it sit for a short time. Time # 2 dealer came to get it I was at work. Not sure how they got it started. Sounding more like a wire problem. It sure would be nice to have a warm place to work on it. I might be in more of a hurry thanks little K

I would unbolt the dash and have a look behind it... check wire connections at the ignition. It would be nice to know why yours is doing this.

I would also tape the seat safety switch down (until you find the problem).

Make sure the wire for the fuel solenoid is solid ( no broken insulation ) and that the connection to the solenoid is clean and a good contact. It sounds like the solenoid is cutting off. Also check the fuse for it, make sure the contacts on the fuse and connector in the fuse box itself are clean.

"Tried to start and there was nothing sounds like a safety interlock problem....But a safety interlock would not have anything to do with it if it is running other than operator present on the seat.
Therefore if it is not the interlock on the seat then it has to be in the key or the battery cables.

Thanks for the heads up Kenneth in Texas. I think the key switch is the problem. I barley move the key to the left & tractor will die then start right up. I did this 6- 12 times. It died & started up every time. I have a switch on order. again thanks for the help. little K

You can just un plug and put a u shaped wire in it to bypass. All safety switches have to ne closed for fuel solenoid to work. Run a wire from battery directly to solenoid and see if you still have problem. If you don't have the problem, time to investigate in reverse. I've seen the fuse box be loose. Sounds like a loose wire connection.

You might consider buying a full service manual. While they may seem a bit pricey they are well worth it if you plan to keep your tractor

So when you turn the key to start... Do you hear any clicks??? Is this a HST or gear (manual) transmission??

What I would do is hold the key in the "Start" position.... Then move the HST pedal back and forth (I don't know if gear has a Neutral safety switch or not....) IF after move the HST petal back and forth does not crank the starter. I would move my butt around the seat (even reach down to the seat safety switch with my hand an work it back and forth...) Finally, I would work the PTO switch - all while holding the key in the start position. Oh, clutch too (I forgot since I disabled mine...)
