"Tried to start and there was nothing sounds like a safety interlock problem....But a safety interlock would not have anything to do with it if it is running other than operator present on the seat.
Therefore if it is not the interlock on the seat then it has to be in the key or the battery cables.

thats odd, but sounds like a safety or the ignition switch. What are you doing and the conditions when its doing this? When it starts back up does it hesitate or starts immediately?

Have you tried wiggling the key while its running? back and forth and in and out?

Thanks for the heads up Kenneth in Texas. I think the key switch is the problem. I barley move the key to the left & tractor will die then start right up. I did this 6- 12 times. It died & started up every time. I have a switch on order. again thanks for the help. little K

I would unbolt the dash and have a look behind it... check wire connections at the ignition. It would be nice to know why yours is doing this.

I would also tape the seat safety switch down (until you find the problem).
You can just un plug and put a u shaped wire in it to bypass. All safety switches have to ne closed for fuel solenoid to work. Run a wire from battery directly to solenoid and see if you still have problem. If you don't have the problem, time to investigate in reverse. I've seen the fuse box be loose. Sounds like a loose wire connection.

You might consider buying a full service manual. While they may seem a bit pricey they are well worth it if you plan to keep your tractor

So when you turn the key to start... Do you hear any clicks??? Is this a HST or gear (manual) transmission??

What I would do is hold the key in the "Start" position.... Then move the HST pedal back and forth (I don't know if gear has a Neutral safety switch or not....) IF after move the HST petal back and forth does not crank the starter. I would move my butt around the seat (even reach down to the seat safety switch with my hand an work it back and forth...) Finally, I would work the PTO switch - all while holding the key in the start position. Oh, clutch too (I forgot since I disabled mine...)
