Kubota L2800, Reversing wheels to widen tractor

After reading your post about the benifit, I figured I had better widen the back end on the L3000-DT, that I had picked up, WOW is a understatement /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I should have done it as soon as I drove it home!

It is amazing how easy it is to change this and how much you gain, I am suprised that it does not come from the factory that way, I guess with the 2 piece wheel they let the owner choose, I asked my dealer and he did not have much to say about it, anyway it works very, very well and made it alot more stable on the steep slops, I also noticed today at the parish tractors for the interstate, they all have the wheels swapped as well.

Mine, L3400dt came in a crate and the dealer assembled it and the wheels were set at the third widest setting. I did not ask them about it. I was going to move mine out more but it will only add an inch or so to each side. Maybe if I am bored one day I might try it.

My L2800 was also put together by my dealer, I really did not see but one option to widen it and it was by undoing the 4 outside nuts on the 2 piece wheel and there was a angle bracket on it and I swaped the tires in the rear from left to right and spun them around, i will get some pictures up to show you, wish I had a picture of it before, I mean a big difference, 7 1/2 to 8 inch it looks like.

Thanks for the info and I'm glad the swap made the tractor feel better for you. I'm sure it will perform better now too, if for no other reason than you are more comfortable on it.

I gotta get me some of these wheels!

Does anyone know, can you do the same on an L4400?

Look at the back of the 2 piece wheel, there should be a bracket that bolts the wheels together, it should be the outter bolts on the wheels from the outside, the bracket that the bolt runs through will have a offset angle to it, all you have to do is undo the four outter bolts, turn the tire so you can get the tire and outter wheel off, leaving the inside wheel attached and just swap to the other side and make sure the traction of the tire is going correct and you will see that the deep is exposed more to the outside make the tractor wider, this took a total of about 30 minutes with 2 people, very easy, let me know how it works for you.
