Hmmm... I had not thought about the cruise control option for that purpose. They told me about it when I bought the tractor implying it was easier if mowing long straight paths or something. I just dismissed it thinking that was silly, how hard could it be to rest your foot on a pedal where your foot would be anyway?

I didn't ever have any issue maneuvering it either until I got the phd and tried backing up slowly and precisely to drill a hole on an uphill slope. As soon as I would release the pedal and jam on the brake, I was off the mark. I would have to set the e-brake a couple of clicks, then reverse to my position. That's when I decided it should have the ability to control motion and stopping with separate feet, or one by hand, one by foot. So does the cruise control work in reverse as well?

Can you just overshoot when backing up, then get on the brake and roll/creep forward downhill until you're over the mark?

Drop the FEL, let this be the "parking break" till you are ready to turn the agar.

It's tight, but I slide my left foot over to the HST controls and brake with my right foot.

I'm old, fat & broke up. If I can do it, most anybody can!

Thats how I tie the tractor down on the trailer actually. I have a chain hooked to the trailer, across a trailer ball on the draw bar. I drive the tractor forward with the right foot and akwardly mash the brake with the left and reach down and flip up the ebrake lever. Another reason I thought this mod would be handy...

As for overshooting and coasting back down. I was able to do that on some, but not on others. Since its hydrostatic, it doesn't coast very well.

And dropping the bucket to use as a brake. Thats a good idea on my own property, its rough and unfinished. But I have some other folks (in-laws place for one) that have manicured lawns, that will not be an option.

The idea of having the cruise control handle seems pretty neat. I don't want it to have the same function though. It would have to operate forward and reverse, and I don't care much about the brakes being a safety. Which means it will just be a direct linkage to the hst pedal. Which also means that any time I push the pedal, I'm going to have this huge stick flopping around at my side. I'm not sure if this is going to be a problem for me or not. As soon as I can get the tractor to town and poke around under it and get a concept of whats going on under there, I'll make a decision of whether to move forward or not.

No worries SRMN8R, I'm not too old, but I feel like it. But I'm fat and broke up (and waaay broke, especially after this tractor payment each month). But you'll never be the only one on here

If you can get that to work, it would be pretty cool.

Moving forward and reverse using a handle, like a handicap option, would be pretty cool... let us know how it goes!

Looking at the diagrams you provided teg, I'm pretty sure I can make it work. Easily. As long as its the same on the 3301. For some reason the diagrams aren't working from Messicks. I thought it was because I was using my phone but they aren't showing up on my computer now either. Once I get that all straightened out I'll do a write-up with the results
