Kubota L3240 stops running when operating the hst speed control pedal in either direc

My tractor starts and runs fine , until the speed control pedal is operated in either forward or reverse position.
Then some kill switch is activated and the engine stops dead, has to be restarted. Also engine dies when the
Cruise control lever is moved out of the neutral position. Every thing worked fine when the tractor was last parked.weather below freezing when problem first occurred. Problem is constant and can,t move the tractor.
Brought the tractor brand new , very few hours on it.

Check your seat safety switch. Saw the same problem from a post about a month ago. Turned out to be water froze and was preventing a good contact with seat.

Agreed, this is the most likely cause. Remember on Kubota's they will not move unless you are in the seat. They will run as long as the hydro pedal is not pressed, but the tractor thinks you are not in the seat.. and it shuts down the fuel stop solenoid.

Yep, check the seat switch. Might be iced up or just sticking.

To George the Beagle......If my owner ever ran me over and killed me because he bypassed the seat switch I would be a not very happy dead dog!
Please fix the seat switch correctly so we don't have any accidents.

Any luck checking your seat switch?

I had to adjust my seat suspension setting on my L3240 (GST, not HST) in the recent cold weather.
I think the springs got just stiff enough from the cold that any little movement while I was in the saddle caused the switch to open, killing the engine. After turning the knob to a squashier setting it's no longer a problem.

i have the same problem. it dies in cold weather. if i let the sun on it a couple hours or when the temp goes up it runs fine. how can i get the part number for that safety switch under the seat?

You could look on parts diagrams from Messicks, but replacing the switch probably won't make a difference if it's getting iced up. The real fix is to keep ice from getting in there.
