Kubota L3240 TLB w/Cab towing it with F350 Crew cab 5.4L

I tow a L5740 with a BH (or also this road boss) on this 20' 14K PJ pulled by an F350 and it fits and handles very well.

Get a 14k 20' deck with beavertail. I have a 1720 ford 28hp with loader and backhoe. The tires are loaded too. When you put an implement on the trailer with the tractor you need the extra space. Having the extra weight capacity is nice too. You'll end up using it someday. The trailer can be used for more than just the tractor. To really dial in the correct tongue weight you need some
extra deck to adjust the tractor anyway. Wouldn't hurt to upgrade to a true class V hitch on your Ford 2 1/2". You'll need to setup weight distributing system, so check out trailer couplers and make sure it's possible. I've carried a kubota mini ex kx121-3, split rail fencing- oak and locust, vehicles, building products on my trailer. Kaufman 20'+2' 14k equipment trailer. Wouldn't hurt to get a trailer with fork carrying shelf built in. Wish I had.

I'm amazed noone has mentioned the difference between what you CAN tow and what the mfg GCVWR is rated.

In your case I think it's 13,500 lbs w/ a 3.73 or 15,000 w/ a 4.10 rear end.

To stay under that you will need an almost weightless trailer.

Depending on the cab style, gear ratio, etc., the max trailer weight ranges from 6800 lbs to 9300 lbs on a 2003 5.4L F350. This is going to limit your ability to tow the tractor and any additional equipment. You will need to get a very light trailer that is capable of handling the tractors weight (Aluminum or bare bones trailer).

With 3.73 gears GCWR = 13500 lbs
With 4.10 gear GCWR = 15000 lbs

If you know what you truck weighs and the gear ratio you can subtract this from the GCWRs above to determine the max weight that Ford has rated the truck to pull.

I am glad I went with a 20 foot deck, highly recommend as no special gyrations to get the tongue load set with various implements.

I was thinking that the truck should handle it just fine - mine does, but I just realized you have the earlier 2 valve 5.4. That has a lot less power than the 4-valve version I have (2005+, I think). So you might find it to be a power problem. The only real limit is power as all the mass and brakes are the same no matter the engine.

I just purchased a 20' 12,000 GVWR. With FEL and rear mower it fits like a glove. An 18' would simply be too short. Now if I had to borrow a trailer or only haul once in a great while, I'd make it work. If your going to purchase get 20' at least. Mine is actually 18+2. I searched on here and searched the market and received alot of good help. Although a 14,000 would be better, the 12,000 is plenty for my L3540 cab FEL and whatever implement I choose. Also, I chose bumper instead of gooseneck for a few simple reasons. If I need to haul my trailer with an SUV for some reason I can. #2 I still have the whole bed of my truck available for other items. Hand tools, implements, supplies etc.
I chose to have more options on my trailer than more weight. Welded in chain box, 10 D-rings welded on the sides, spring assist loading ramps, LED lights, electrical ran in conduit, drop foot jack, radial tires step on fenders, etc.

The old 5.4L will tow it for sure, just don't expect to fly there.
