I've been meaning to get a battery for a long time. It turns over slowly and then usually starts. Lately I've had to jump start it. Today I jump started it and let it run for half an hour then shut it off. After a couple hours I went to start it and it clicked and I thought I heard what sounded like an electrical wire fizzling a little? Now when I turn the key on none of the dash lights come on... there's absolutely nothing. I went and got a new battery, thinking maybe I fried the old one but there's still nothing.

Any Ideas? I looked at the 40 amp fuse on the left side of the tractor by the starter and it appears to be o.k.

Could it be that the starter fried?

Found the problem. Couldn't believe it was this simple. The grounding connection at the frame was rusted and was making a bad ground. Took the bolt out, wire-brushed the bolt and the eyelet connector, put it back together and voila!
