I just had a BH76A Backhoe installed last week and as soon as I got back to the property I started putting it through its paces. My daylight soon faded and before long I turned on my rear facing spot mounted low on the left side of my ROPs. The light does not provide much light down in the hole so I'm looking to mount one or two higher up. If I am only running my rear two or three lights, is there any need to beef up the charging system or will the tractor handle it just fine? Does anyone have a set up with a photo or two to share? Thanks

I have a 3030 with a cab, it has the 2 lights on the front hood, 2 lights on the front cab and 2 light on the back of the cab, plus the tail lights. I don't believe it has a bigger charging system. No pics, maybe I will get one of my boys to help with that.

Here are my front & rear ROPS lights. I put them on mostly for snow plowing in the dark (they throw some serious light), but they also work great for lighting up the bottom of the hole when doing backhoe work, especially when the bright sun is lighting up the surrounding ground above the hole.

They're just the cheapo 55w halogen sealed units from Harbor Freight, but you can get to the bulbs to change them. The black portion is rubber that the unit and lens snaps into. Even if you need to swap out a whole new unit, they're cheap enough and regularly go on sale.

Sorry, not sure what you have for a power source, but the standard on the B3030 is a 'dynamo', so I had the dealer install the optional more powerful alternator. I think you could probably just get away with moving the one light you already have up higher and adding another with the current generator. However the one light might do the trick for backhoe work.

Your L3400 should have a 40 amp charging system. It is listed as standard equipment on the Kubota website. If not $200.00 and about 1 hr to install. With the 40 amp alt. you could probably install as many as would fit on your ROPS. Don't forget a relay!

I installed 4 lights on my rops, 55watt halogen. I wired them directly to the battery with an inline fuse and switch. Never had a power problem. L5030

I just decided to order another Kubota light and bracket. My reasons
1. They both look the same.
2. They both will have their own switches.
3. The bracket already fits my ROPs with no mods needed.
4. I don't have daily access to my tractor as it's over 250 miles from here and I just don't have much time to work on it.
Thanks for the info!

Something's wrong with that scenario!

You either need to get another tractor for the property you are at most of the time, or you need to move to the property where the tractor is. :D

Bandit, believe me....I feel my pain. I figure between work and heading out to the property, I drive over 850 miles per week. At least there is a reliable tractor at the end of the road every week-end and that puts a smile on my face.:)
