Comparison Kubota L3400 versus JD 790 -- price check -- Help!

First off, I have to say that this site is great!

That said, I've got a bit of a dilemma that has alot in common with other posts here.

I am down to a decision between the Kubota L3400 and the JD 790.

Both have good financing at 0% for 24mos (36 would have been better, but I waited too long) The JD dealer is much CLOSER than the Kubota dealer so servicing is a concern with the Kubota. The prices are comparable.

At this point, I'm wondering if this is a good price for the Kubota...

L3400 standard transmission
AG tires loaded
Block heater
FEL w/60'' bucket w/weld on hook
72" Puma rear blower

US$18,000

Check the Deen Implements website. www.deenimplement.com/ They have an L3400 DT with FEL and grill guard for sale for $14570. I don't know the price breakdown on the other parts of your deal, but that should let you know how your price for the tractor and FEL compares.

do you happen to know how much shipping would add on? Texas to Maine is a long way.

shipping would be a few bucks but shipping aside, that is a heck of a price difference.

Carver Equipment in Dunn, NC also has low prices, perhaps lower than Deen. Check out their website and get a quote. www.carverequipment.com They are closer than Texas. Besides, with two quotes maybe you can get your local dealer to deal.

I think the price is fair. Prices vary greatly from region to region. I think comparing prices on these two tractors is a bit hard. The 3400 is much more tractor than is the 790. That said either would be good machines to do a great deal of work. I own a 3400 and am sold on them. I am able to do much of my own service for the tractors and that makes it easy to have dealers further away. I think if the Deere dealer is close by that would push me harder to the 790. Just my thoughts

My local dealer has quoted me $ 14,700 on a L3400 gear driven with a 463 front end loader. This is his up front price and it is not negotiable even though I tried. They don't have anyone on commission, so they can offer them cheaper up front and they sell a ton. With a price like that, not really any need to negotiate.
My understanding is all the dealers get the same prices from Kubota, so your dealer should be able to match. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I shipped mine from Texas to Maine. It cost me ~ $1,200.00. But that was the tractor with a FEL and a BH.

Kubota is running a $ 500 instant rebate which is credited back to your finance account upon completion of sale. This is thru the Kubota revolving credit and the maximun financed is $ 15,000. If you get approved for maximun, then there is no money down, no interest and no payments for 180 days. I can handle getting to use a tractor free for 6 months and getting paid $ 500 to do it. This brings the price of my L3400 gear drive now down to $ 14,200 which includes complete loader package. I have done enough research to know that I don't know where you can even come close to that in price for that size tractor with the service, reputation, warranty and resale value! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
