Can you tell me the advantages of a 3400 over a 3203 other tan 2 hp?
The Deere loader seems to be alot simpler to remove.
The 2 hp is a non issue IMHO - which is why I recommended comparing to the JD 790 or JD 3120.
When I was comparing for my
L3400 purchase the following gave the advantage to the Kubota. Maybe some of these have been addressed
- Inability to operate PTO without being in the seat on JD 3203 - rules out uses like a generator or a pto driven hay elevator.
- No backhoe capability. I didn't need one back then and didn't quite contemplate getting one but I am now.
- Loader specs were better by 20-25% on the
L3400.
I'll bear testimony to the fact that as a new buyer you have NO CLUE how much more you will be doing with your tractor than you originally anticipated. I never thought I'd be thinking about a backhoe (heck TBNers had to talk me into getting a loader!). Now I'm contemplating a backhoe. The inability to have had one would have given me less options right now.
Just MHO.
You are most likely correct that the loader probably comes off easier. I have no clue. I've never removed the loader on my
L3400 in the year and a half I've had it.
Personally I think that JD should have just gotten Yanmar to add a unsynchronized mechanical hydrostat to the 790 (like the
L3400 has). The 790 is a nice workhorse.
