Kubota L3710 Steering Seal Fix?

I don't care much about it. I consented to the price before the repair. I knew they weren't running a charity. I would still like to help other people, so I posted the parts.

I have someone who has never seen the part and who wasn't involved in the repair, trying to justify the hour of labor by telling me the mechanic took the cylinder apart and performed some kind of exam on the parts to make sure they weren't damaged. I really don't think that happened. I don't think you need to use instruments to look at a fat, short cylinder with intact wipers and realize the rod is fine, and I think the piston would have been scored if the cylinder had been damaged. People inspect car cylinders visually, so a hydraulic cylinder shouldn't be any harder.

Now it looks like I knocked a hole in the gear case. I was trying to move the cylinder so the rod end lined up with the holes in the frame, and I guess the rod hit the gear case. Engine oil is escaping.

Guess it's time to call the dealer.

I can hear the dealer laughing maniacally. After all that to avoid them, and you might have to go back.

Aside from that I can't thank you enough for this post, having the same issue and having problems finding the part numbers.
