Comparison KUBOTA L4701DT vs LS XR4150

Basically it is all part of the LG conglomeration. Not just Electronics, LG does heavy industry and steel as well. They are a huge company. The LS group was spun off the main LG company, and I believe they operate as their own division now.

I owned a couple LS tractors, they were good machines. I left LS when I upgraded to a cab model because the loader lift height was causing issues issues me with what I do with the loader. I went with Massey partly because the loader was at or near the top of the class in every category, and other considerations like quality, comfort, Etc

I really liked the LS XR4155 but I did not want the 3 cyl/turbo... The 4 cyl natural aspirated is what I wanted/looked for in that class/category/capacity and the KUBOTA L4701DT was IT... I made the right decision for ME/my Central Florida farm... But again, that LS was very nice, especially with some of the included extras/price...

Another thing that influenced me away from LS was that I had a recent/previous bad experience with the LS parent-company LG... Prolly should not have affected my decision but it did because the experience cost me a lot of time/money/aggravation and I swore never again anything LG...

Also, I 'heard' that LS was having problems with some tie-rods breaking but that they recognized the problem and were 'on it' with warrantee/fixes...

Anyway, thanks for YOUR help/input...

YOU are right... I stand corrected... KUBOTA specs for the FEL are not as easy to pin-down (pun intended) and measurements taken in different locations/heights vary... I welcome the info and have posted an amended version of the specs below but still not sure of where/how the FEL measurements are made on this machine...

As for the LS engines I saw, I believe they were Shibaura and the 'newer' ones may be Mitsubishi (made by LS?)... What is the relationship between LG and LS?

kubota L4701DT $24,200 w/ FEL

Here is another tid-bit from a KUBOTA dealer that may help shed-some-light...

The L4701DT loader model number LA765......Take 765 multiply by 2 = 1530lbs. With in 50lbs this would be your lift at full height. This is measured at the quick attach bracket with the bucket off.

The way the Kubota loader numbers work is this:

LA765 --- 760 is the capacity in kilograms (kg) -- 5 is the revision. So the pound capacity is 1675.5#.

Another example -- the LA524 and LA525 loaders on the basic L models -- both 520 kg or 1146#. One is revision 4, one is revision 5.

I looked Korean when I was upgrading from my Kubota L3200. I wanted a premium tractor with a cab. I never had issues with the L3200, but got tired of dust, heat & cold. I wanted some nicer bells & whistles with the upgrade too. I ended up with a L4060hstc after looking at every brand avalible in Colorado.

HST+ with Kubota quality & engineering won me over. The Koreans weren't bad by any rate. It was just some of the smaller things like filter accessibility & maintenance access. The fact they had turbos was actually a plus to me. I live in Colorado & a turbo mostly cancels out our lack of oxygen here at 7,500'+.

Also, there are lots of Kubota dealers around. But only 1 Kioti/TYM/LS dealer in the state. I wasn't impressed with them.

You can definitely get some good machine for the buck with Koreans. Kubota is a nicer machine, but that comes with a heartier pricetag.

I discounted KUBOTA during my initial research because I thought they would be more/TOO expensive... I WAS VERY WRONG... I ended-up buying a VERY competitive KUBOTA machine (HP/engines/accessories/implements/etc.) for LESS THAN ANY OTHERS... I am grateful for the 'enlightenment' and I am proud of/happy with my KUBOTA (L4701DT) purchase... That said, I will admit, I came close to buying a LS XR4155 but I did not want the 3 cyl turbo, preferring the 4 cyl naturally aspirated engine on the KUBOTA...

Good luck...
